Banking websites will tell you that you need 2FA. Of course you need to use not just any 2FA you need to use their app and of course you don't need a 2FA if you use the app directly for banking. My companys equity app does not even wan

What about Edge? The browser on every PC and the default browser after every update? Can't even delete the desktop shortcuts.

Mdadm raid is rock solid. Lvm raid is not at the same level. There was a bug for years that made me doubt anybody even uses lvm-raids. I could not fix a broken raid without unmounting it. Mdadm and ext4 is what I use in production with all

Fair comparsion? This thread is about how you can't run old software on linux and are better of running windows software via wine. Running random versions instead of specific software versions is the point.

I bought 3 linux games on DVD between 2006 and 2016. I stopped buying linux games and instead started again buying windows games. Because there is no easy way to run them. On the other hand I can just run myst1993 and most of windows games

They fired the developers and later gave the project to the Linux foundation. Maybe "give up" is not a perfect fit. But they "abandoned" it for sure.

The comments got me already antagonistic towards the project. But what I saw was quite nice. I mean I won't switch my default browser but there were some good ideas.

We had a forest of openldap trees in 2002. Openldap had a replication integrated. Slapd (its more than 20 years ago forgive me if I get things wrong). You could use a counter or timestamps to resolf conflicts. How do you solve conflicts?

Pi 1 a/b were really fragile but since pi 2 this problem is mostly solved. Still if I need to write a lot I would use a external drive. We have >300 pies running 24/7 on 52 sites all over the world. Even though we use no name b
