I can't even tell if you're kidding, to be honest. Disabled cars in and upon the public way are a daily sight in my town. https://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=1329538000569&set=pb...

I don’t know what you’re trying to show me with that first link. It’s two scooters parked in a street parking spot that would normally be occupied by only one car. To me that’s a huge victory for urban America over the automobile.

Literally nobody has ever been killed by a shared bike ridden improperly upon a sidewalk. Meanwhile people are killed every day by cars on sidewalks, and we're all headed for extinction from climate change caused by cars no matter how

Bike shares are great even if you have a great bicycling city. I myself am a Very Serious Cyclists, more than 200 miles per week, and I still use the bike share at least weekly. Just today I had to take my car to the shop, then I took a t

This is really the key thing to understand why FB is so much more evil than the other companies it is often lumped together with. They don't just use your data to target ads. They will literally just sell your data to anyone who wave

I think I've heard "Jeff and Sanjay" as often as or more often than I've heard them regarded separately. Who invented protobuf? Jeff and Sanjay. Etc.

For what it's worth, there is no "AI" division at Google. That term just doesn't enjoy any currency inside the company.

That seems a bit contrived but just rolling with it, this hypothetical org with ultra-sensitive opsec should have also blacklisted the domain in question at their inside resolver.

What exactly is the privacy threat model in this situation? If you are about to connect to the resolved service it makes no difference that you hid your subnet from that service’s DNS server.

There’s more to dns performance than query time. Cloudflare doesn’t seem to be sending the EDNS client subnet to authoritative resolvers, which means those resolvers can’t give sensible nearest-to-client responses. This is a crucial feature

But it is. They don't say what they do log. For example if I zero out the highest octet of your IP address and I log the ASN, I have effectively identified you without "logging your IP address".

The privacy statements on this service are vague. Google makes specific and strong guarantees about what it does with DNS service logs. Google does not keep DNS logs with client IPs longer than 48 hours. I also note that Cloudflare doesn&

This data seems weird to me because it look like positive well-being is correlated with suicide. The states in their top quintile like Montana and Colorado are also top states for suicide. So either their survey method biases against peop

50 V/m 19h per day for your whole life is definitely not normal exposure. Edit: back of the envelope, 50 V/m is equivalent to standing 2m away from LTE base station with 60W power and 18 dBi antenna gain.

I think the best explanation for the very poor quality of the video released by the police is that it's a video of a video, as if they recorded a video of the original video being played back on an LCD display.

Just to quantify this side of the argument, street lighting is by design 50-1000x brighter than the moon, depending on the kind of street. For example the intersection of two major roads with pedestrians present is supposed to be lighted t
