The comment I was replying to was saying we need to replace banks with crypto. The user hostility is one reason why that's nowhere near happening.

You realize the user hostile nature of basically all crypto currencies is not a feature right?

I'm supposed to feel bad for Peter Thiel? The guy is a billionaire. He can go wherever he wants and do whatever he wants. He thinks it's hard to be a conservative in California? Try being a liberal in most of the red state parts o

Are you for real? There’s major headlines about screw ups with crypto codebases and exchanges constantly.

This is truly nuts. We are living through some truly irrational craziness that makes the dot com bubble look like nothing. When this correction comes it’s gonna be really bad. Greed is not a good thing folks.

So HN has devolved to the point where people are defending the actions of people in the textbook case of a speculative bubble. Yikes....

I would wager most programmers implementing AMP don’t feel they have a choice. Either they need to do it for SEO purposes or they need to do it because project managers say so it for SEO purposes. That’s kind of the whole reason AMP is bad.

Dude this discussion is an even worse waste of my time than that awful movie was. I gave you the obvious reasons why it gets roasted so badly by anyone who knows anything about movies, if you don't want to hear them or don't agree

The Ward/Jakoby thing was a really sad excuse for the same old buddy cop dynamic we've seen a thousand times, but done better in almost every other case. The "world building" was lazy and beyond boring; take a bunch of u

Is this for real? There is no justification. It’s theft plain and simple. Nothing has gotten me to turn on NoScript by default but if this becomes commonplace I will. I know the author is doing opt-in mining but that’s obviously going to be

Bright was a truly horrendous movie. Everything about it was terrible. The writing was beyond bad, the performances were weak, even Will Smith was just a bad R-rated version of previous performances. One of the worst movies I have seen in a

The entire crypto coin world including BitCoin is totally awash in scams and heists. I know some devs like Rusty have the best of intentions and are true believers, but they are so vastly outnumbered it's not even funny. Being unregula

It’s the same thing that’s happening to VR and lots of other things that are getting hyped before the hard problems are solved. There’s been a serious epidemic in the last decade or so of mistaking solving the low hanging fruit for being “a

For the same reason I’m not gonna spend my time writing a lengthy rebuff of psychic surgery. It’s total nonsense and we as a society have known that for decades, and even a cursory examination makes it obvious.

What is the point of this comment? To disparage the complainant? Who cares if he's a meth head and dead beat dad. It has no bearing on whether Uber, Lyft, etc. are acting within the law or not.

Yeah and you don't write your own app to do Uber or Lyft and you can't dump a passenger out on the sidewalk to pick up a better ride in the middle of it. These arguments are ridiculous.

Restaurants do have shifts but no it is not rare to get called on your day off if you’re a good server who is up for additional shifts and does a good job with them. Nor would it be crazy to get called to two at once because often times if

This example is super flimsy. I could be a server who works shifts at two restaurants. They both call me the same morning with available shifts that day. I pick the one that usually gives better tips. I’m still an employee of both. Edit: Gu

It's an obviously over simple answer to a complex issue. But fear can cloud our judgment, so try to think about things rationally and decide if it might be worth taking the leap on a case by case basis. That doesn't sound as catch
