Not that I know of but that's why I'm saying it would be a premium product. Likely pricing would have to scale with the number of dynos running behind the router. But that's the service people thought they were getting and what they wanted.

It seems to me that Heroku is still failing to understand (or at least cop to) the fact that the switch from intelligent to randomized routing was a loss of a major reason people chose Heroku in the first place. A lot of Heroku's apparent v

The blog post seems to frame the issue as: "Should this company be allowed to make massive profits off of their investment in clinical trials?" Any reasonable person would say "Sure they are allowed to make a profit off of that." I don't th

AirBnB is miniscule compared to Wal-Mart, though. Not even a blip. The ambulance chasers would be all over this. Not to mention widespread fraud. It's just a dumb idea.

You misunderstand the problem. It's not the loss of the $20 of goods or whatever that are lost. Obviously they can absorb that. It's the lawsuits due to the emotional/physical trauma of being robbed while delivering for Wal-Mart.

That's not true at all. You need some way of interacting with a back end (as well as the browser.) Whether that's via forms or AJAX requests, you need more from the DOM. The DOM is not just a GUI toolkit. I am not splitting hairs, you are g

No, of course it's not impossible. But I was pointing out a flaw in the article, it glosses over this issue. And this hypothetical API would need to be implemented individually for each language that you want to use for client side scriptin

You can't "do away with the DOM altogether". You need to have some method of interacting with the browser; location, AJAX requests, cookies, etc. Porting a GUI toolkit only relieves your need to deal with CSS, it does not alleviate you of a

This is a remarkably bad idea. What happens when someone who's delivering a package gets robbed? Think that's a remote possibility? Pizza delivery guys get robbed constantly. Also, it says a lot about Wal-Mart's opinion of its customers tha

This article is making a common mistake; confusing JavaScript the language itself with the DOM. Compiling to asm.js just gives you the ability to translate your other language code to executable JavaScript. It doesn't solve the issues of DO

Come on, why ask a question like that? We're not discussing NaCl here. If you want to discuss NaCl that's a whole different issue. It's a totally different standard and quite a bit more complex than asm.js.

I'm curious what the performance is like in Chrome or Safari (which do not have asm.js support.) If performance is acceptable in Chrome/Safari then that helps sell the idea that the web is ready for 3D games now. If the performance isn't ac

Not only is this not possible right now it's also a dumb idea. So now instead of having one device that's easily portable to anywhere you want to go, you have the device plus a base station that you have to carry around. Oh boy! What an imp
