Ok I will reword; there's something very wrong in the tech investment world. I'll edit the post.

An $8 Billion valuation on a company that: - Has no products. - Has done no public, verifiable demos of real tech even. - Has no verified technical innovations even as far as I know. Something is seriously, seriously wrong

That kind of thinking can be used to justify just about anything. That's nonsensical. The issue I have is that they seem to be deliberately misleading investors based on what has leaked out. They are certainly trying to mislead the pub

I started teaching myself to program when I was about 10 years old in 1988. Back then I learned from books. I went through books to learn languages and to learn frameworks or big applications (like X Windows.) As someone else said, Google w

If they had just advertised it as "a heavy blanket" do you think it would have gotten funding? It got funding because they made unsubstantiated medical claims, which is illegal for good reason. Otherwise I could sell you "ant

Why is it an either or scenario? We should do both. We have a duty to do both. Life on earth will one day end regardless, though. While we have the chance we should be doing everything we can to distribute it as widely as we can.

Forget about human beings. As far as we know, Earth is the only source of life in the galaxy or even universe. There is no guarantee it exists anywhere else, or that it will continue to exist here. In fact it is certain one day life will ce

I have mild dyslexia myself and I think any kind of notation is going to be a problem for us. The good news is you don't need musical notation to play music. You can play by ear. Don't let it stop you if you're really interes

Except Watson, Siri, Alexa, etc aren't real AI. They are very specific applications for a specific task. The idea that they are AI has been great for marketing and creating another "Strong AI is around the corner bubble." But

If Soylent were a good idea it wouldn't need a $50M funding round at this point. People know about it. Most people I know who've tried it after a while didn't like it any more and abandoned it. And now they've brought ou

Title is extremely misleading. It is starting a funding round, it has not received the funding as the title states. After Theranos I would expect any rational investor to approach this with extreme caution.

Considering Google's main business is selling ads I'm guessing they are only going to block ads from competitors. Who will then have very solid ground for a lawsuit for anti-competitive behavior. This seems like a bad idea.
