DLib has a good implementation of face landmark detection, closer to what you want to do than Viola Jones: http://dlib.net/imaging.html#shape_predictor

There is often fast lines for clients with less than x products. They should generalize this system for carts and keep the lines for on-the-go clients.

If you're interested in Reinforcement Learning and Spiking Neural Network, you should look into Izhikevich work on dopamine-modulated STDP: http://www.izhikevich.org/publications/dastdp.pdf

Could you add some examples of generated logos on the github page? It would be nice to have an idea of the result without having to run the code.

During rush hours, most of the cars only have one person in it. Cheap self driving taxis could reduce quite a bit the number of cars during rush hour by pooling rides.

You can use a model that gives you its classification uncertainty. Bayesian SegNet for example [1]. We may also adapt the legislation for how vehicles should look like we did to make human driving easier (ex: tail and side lights). 1: http

You could always "cheat" and use a marker. It's obviously not as powerful but if I can put a marker on any surface and create a virtual screen, it would already be huge.

I also think that it's the right solution. The important thing is to disambiguate the timezone (UTC, CET, GMT, etc) and get rid of ambiguous time as much as possible. I think it's similar to currencies. In a local shop, the curren

Its main differentiator is "user experience" not "looks". This DE is great to use. Of course screenshots only show that it looks good. You need to experience it to really understand where it shines.

I was more talking about a fall of real estate valuations as you introduce a significant land value tax. And it must be significant to cancel the impact of land value on the rise of inequality.

I think that Uber is organized per city, at least on the business side. I'm talking about cities as used in [1]. I'm not even sure that you can do inter-city rides using Uber. 1: https://www.uber.com/cities/

Wouldn't dividing their database per city make the system a lot simpler? Transfer between cities should be rare overall and it would limit the reliance on replication. Is there something obvious that I don't see?

If you can claim to vote in a way when you voted another way, then no one is going to bribe or force you to vote in a given way. That what the voting booth and envelopes are for. Its not a random thing. Our voting systems are low tech, but

Piketty's theory is not that capital's share of income is increasing. I read this many time and I think it is a misconception of his work. His theory is that wealth grows faster than the economy, and that it creates wealth inequal

I'm sold to Henry George's land value tax idea, if we were to create a nation. But we aren't. In our current situation, I would worry that taxing only the wealth "stored" in land ownership would create a massive eco

It has been done with manual segmentation [1]. And the results are mind blowing. There also a lot of work done on segmentation with neural nets [2, 3], so I wouldn't be surprised to see someone implementing this idea in the near future

I don't think GP meant that the market should have rules but that capitalism should be regulated (as an organism is) to maintain inequality at the sweet spot where it is efficient, instead of letting it rise and getting fever.

Capital is used as a synonym of wealth. It's a book about wealth inequality. The book was originally written in French, and land is considered as "capital foncier". Maybe this meaning got lost in translation, but I think &quo

Why would it contradict Piketty's theory? Housing is capital. This post seems to respond to the theory that wealth inequality is caused by the rise of automation. That has nothing to do with Piketty's theory.
