I do like the ArchWiki, but have found that some of their admins suffer from the same sort of petty tyranny and procedural injustice that commonly befalls internet moderation staff. I have seen the moderators go on unprompted rants against

I knew the people who were setting this up for Yahoo like 10 years ago. Lots of major providers do it now.

That sounds like steep tariffs on top of the price. I wouldn’t rely on any user reporting for the software situation as Sky1-Linux is very new and solves basically all the software problems. The 06N doesn’t have slots, only soldered ram, so

You can still get the 32GB variant direct from Radxa off AliExpress for about $412 USD. Much more than launch costs (probably due to cost of ram), but that's actually still cheaper than the Milk-V Titan. The Titan ships with empty RAM

It is actually a very good board, and now has a fully supported platform on mainline. Those are very out of date. https://github.com/Sky1-Linux/

As a point of comparison, the Radxa Orion O6 shipped a year ago as a 12 core ARMv9 board on same form factor and TDP, for $100 less, with 5x the single core performance (and including a competent iGPU, NPU and VPU). These are very much deve

No, those are generally not always-on in normal use. People let screens shut off, open up fullscreen apps, etc. Most OLED firmwares also have subtle pixel shifting and pixel refresh on shutdown routines, as well as very conservative brightn

I'd say the inverse is true: OLEDs are the best in low light, as they generally dim well and black means zero illumination of the pixel. Author is ill-informed. Also, OLED burn-in is a non-issue with current displays in any normal si

I didn't think I was good at soldering until I invested in a good soldering workstation. That is: * A microscope with a good working distance, and a large screen. * A soldering iron with very short grip to tip distance. Miniware TS1M w

You can go further and replace the cheap Pi oscillator crystal with a proper TCXO, as others using them for NTD have done and documented: https://raspberrypi.stackexchange.com/questions/74482/switch... That should

So say I have a 4TB USB SSD from a few years ago, that's been sitting unpowered in a drawer most of that time. How long would it need to be powered on (ballpark) for the full disk refresh to complete? Assume fully idle. (As a note: I d

Yeah, I’ve used vatiations of the “get frontier models to cross-check and refine each others work” pattern for years now and it really is the path to the best outcomes in situations where you would otherwise hit a wall or miss important det

It says they're targeting Spring 2026 for their 1.0 release, so I'll treat as beta and put a calendar entry in for April 2026 to check back in on it.

Cool. For a moment I got excited and thought someone built an alternative to the crazy-spendy Ping Plotter. An always-running statistical view of traceroutes for multiple sites is something only they seem to be doing well.

Yeah, same. I apparently naturally have the writing style of an LLM (basically the called out quote of parent is something I could have written in terms of style). It’s irritating to change my style to not sound like AI.
