I was never big on Sonic Youth but I met Thurston Moore at a poetry reading when he was touring around for his book. I went because a friend suggested. I was in awe at his ease with fans and his general excitement for "the scene".

It is the Climax mine. No it's not from the 1800s, and it's still in operation. It has absolutely demolished that section of the mountain range.

I have a few questions about computer architecture for you hardware folks. These many core architectures get so complex. I'm a lowly scientist that does some fairly heavy compute in both interpreted languages (python) and compiled lang

Can you tell me, with sincere curiosity, how you expect being able to buy modern handguns to make America less violent? I ask as a gun owner.

Wait. Does this pass for science in these fields, psychology and medicine? They summarize various statistics from prior papers as if they are trends across space and time (hello sample bias, are there papers that contradict their claims the

That is one lens with which to view the situation. But it's a simple lens when inflation is a large forceful re-structuring of the economic pyramid that is impacted by the attempts of central authorities to manage money. Inflation is

Ummm. It probably depends on the kind of work you do in the terminal but for me it was a game changer. Being able to pull in any of the text from a terminal into a buffer, easily, without copy paste or mouse is a massive game changer for th

Wait, I'm confused, because you might have found a solution to something that's bothered me for a long time. I use emacsclient -t as $EDITOR and editor is invoked at a normal emulator, it opens a new buffer in the terminal. Great.

FYI, I use vterm with a few custom keys so that it operates exactly as if it were just a standard terminal emulator.

If you think that's a strictly historical phenomena you're underestimating how humanity operates. I done research cruises in the Arctic and there was multiple instances of the ships crew not realizing, understanding, or caring abo

It is very eesh. But tbf, I would precisely use this for single-drive monthly cold storage backups of a large raid nas for example.

This is bizarre to me. Cloud storage kills the need for small drives. So for the individual with modest storage needs, the cloud is relatively inexpensive and thought free. But the moment you get over 2TB the cloud gets extremely expensive.

You're being downloaded because "boy" is diminutive in this context. Like real men can't wear small watches. Which is, of course, unnecessary cock sizing.

Again, like much of the discussion around Firefox, feature vs bug is in the eye of the beholder. I think the UX of deep links on Firefox is vastly preferable. I hate when a website opens the play store and forceably tells you to install an

You're adding important context but I would like to clarify something to highlight just how complex climate change really is. I also am going to make a few related comments, as I do most of my research on melt in Greenland. Full disclo

I don't. This is so obscenely flawed in obvious ways. The energy to train the model was used only for model training while the energy used by the baby performed a myriad of tasks including image recognition, and can presumably apply
