    I've had similar waiting experience with Sublime for large text bodies. VSCode, IME (been couple years since I tried) absolutely choked and eventually had to terminate. These days, I stick to Emacs and Vim (terminal) for large files. P

    These days I just use Nix/Guix on work machines and get to using latest versions in less than 5 minutes. At home I've switched fully to NixOS.

    If I must use VSCode, I use this this. But from what I understand, some of the best extensions are not allwed to run on non-MS versions like this. Particularly the remote editing version other comment mentions.

    No. Find in page is dumb text match. I use an extension that let's me construct full regular expressions to search through the page. Comes very handy from time to time.

    My company does this too. Try installing Firefox in a nonstandard location, that fixed it for me. Now I enjoy regex search, unlock origin and tampermonkey and have little more peace of mind.
