I just finished reading the Jobs biography, and I believe you're correct. Isaacson writes about Steve personally calling the editor in chief of Time Inc to get the famous picture of Gandhi which isn't available for commercial use, and meeti

I was really excited about buying an unlocked iPhone 4S. And then I read this: The unlocked iPhone will not work with CDMA carriers such as Verizon Wireless or Sprint. [1] Until an unlocked phone means I can switch between the major US carr

Yes, in the abstract, this is fairly ridiculous. However, having tried to use kitchen utensils purchased from a dollar store, it's my experience that there are some that are completely useless. So, I too would read reviews before purchasi

Poor pay was my first thought too. Glassdoor doesn't have much info on this particular company, but there are complaints about pay, and no raise in 5 years: http://www.glassdoor.com/Reviews/Harry-Fox-Agency-Reviews-E2...

I think you're just looking for the man page. There are blog posts out there showing how to set up CI builds, which will also get you started, but the man page isn't too long and is the authoritative reference for what xcodebuild will do.

I'd be intrigued if something could be done with the orientation of the 2, 3, and 6 faces to improve image quality. I'm coming up mostly blank, but they probably create textures when the same number is in a large contiguous block and the or

At Amazon I signed a 1 year non-compete as an intern. When I asked their HR dept about it, they told me not to worry because they'd never heard of it being enforced, but I wasn't particularly reassured.

I agree, but it sure does feed the hype machine. Think about how many news sites are hosting live blogs, and how many incidental visitors are seeing front page articles about it, and have been seeing ads for the live blog for days leading u

I don't know if this particular instance qualifies, but I was reminded of an interesting article [1] about how Apple is a monopsony (the only buyer) in some markets. Thus, they provide lots of upfront capital to pay for the machines and fac

I think this is a much better article to read, because it covers a variety of platforms, instead of grabbing headlines by talking about Lion, and it contains links to a variety of preexisting papers and tools, instead of regurgitating the c

Agreed, but shouldn't you require users to have a camera to download a camera app? There's a key/value you should be able to add to your Info.plist to block devices without a camera...

I think a more likely scenario is that the user can't find the app and gives up. I'm very much in favor of putting the power in developers' hands though.

I think that's due to numbers of devices sold rather than update behavior. I believe iOS had a large market share lead during the Android 1.x days, and that most of those 2.x devices were sold with 2.x. It's my understanding iOS users do a

I'm not familiar with domain name rules, but it sounds to me like Google has ~5 years to lobby to get the rules changed, or to make +.com so ubiquitous that refusing renewal would be a worse idea than permitting it.

I don't think a nonce would work, because the server wouldn't be able to verify whether the hashed value you sent was correct or not. The whole point is to never send your 'real' pwd to the site, because they're going to do something idioti
