I agree that this usage of mocks is detrimental. I think the only verification that should be done with mocks (the verify method) is that important collaborators have been called. Things that run off and mutate some global state, or perfo

Maybe too snarky, but they could have simply called Apple support and gotten them to reset the password. If a hacker can impersonate a person, hopefully this guy would know enough about his mom to do so too. I'm hoping they already tri

As the answers suggest, there's a difference between encrypting everything with the same key, and encrypting between two parties. Arguably, encrypting all snapchat traffic with the exact same key is almost worthless, and they could jus

Pleading guilty doesn't set a legal precedent. If you're talking about piling on charges to make a plea deal look attractive, I'm pretty sure that's been done before.

When I see R&D spending comparisons, I wonder if certain companies are more liberal about what they account as R&D. Every year at work we fill out a survey where we estimate what portion of our time was spent on R&D vs other thi

Yep. Even ones that may not be fully baked, so some people caution against it. We have it turned on, and about 10 warnings specifically disabled because they were too noisy or not useful for us. It's always interesting upgrading Xcode

I found the hitbox so frustrating I took an airplay video of several games and was surprised when instant replay showed a 1 pixel collision between the bird and the pipe, when I thought I was clear. The conspiracist in me wanted to believe

My product does a similar, but not identical thing. We ask the user for feedback (not modally), and if they decide to, we ask whether they like it, neutral, or negative. This is tracked with analytics, so we have an idea what people answer.

Honestly, I view the TAO disclosures as proof that we don't need an internet-wide dragnet. They have so many tools at their disposal for targeted access that I think they should do things the "old fashioned" way: establish

Screenshots with sensitive info are not fine, that screenshot is stored on disk unencrypted. They also often outlive the running instance of the app. This bypasses any protection regularly used by the app for that information, and therefore

I looked into Business class, but wasn't willing to sign a 2-3 year contract with Comcast for it. Maybe I'd be happier with business class, but I wish that 2 years from now I'll have a different provider. This article was the
