I whish I could go paperless. I'm in high school, and let's admit it: my notebooks are a complete mess, and it's kind of annoying. We get free netbooks in school, that we carry every day, and I though "Great, this year I'll take notes with

I dislike how people say "Learn to code" and that automatically implies that it's HTML, CSS and JS: There is a whole world out of that.

Exactly: I tried learning both Emacs and Vi/Vim and it's just too complex, I have better things to do at the moment: I just want a simple text editor that works in CLI. Joe is a similar text editor.

I don't know why would I want to use this and not Scala. Sure, Scala might have some complexity, but it's easy to learn and for me it's as productive as Python. I found this comparision: http://confluence.jetbrains.net/display/Kotlin/Compa

I'm also a 15 years old teenager living in Argentina, but here things are somewhat different. First, no one has a "real" smartphone, most are cheap Nokia phones with some applications for Facebook: People who have money usually buy BlackBer

That's not really true: If you develop a nice and polished desktop application which can be better than an opesource alternative we are disposed to pay. For example check the Humble Bundle: Linux users always pay more than average. Although

Most of Vim users use GVim, and Emacs defaults to a graphical interface.

Amazing. I've been using Linux for years, but I realized I know almost anything: I don't know how to configure the network, I don't know awk or sed, I don't know to use chown/chmod correctly, etc.

I.Q. is a nice one http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0110099/ Although not sure if it qualifies as "Engineers as Heroes".

Couple of questions. How is it compared to Qt ? Can you port your apps to other DE/OS if you use E17 libs?

I'll have to check Rust then, seems interesting. Although I see Go as a clean language: A "better" C and D as a "cleaner C++".

How is D or OCaml more Rust-like than Go? Can you explain?

Prolog -> Lisp ? Prolog is a logical and Lisp is Multiparadigm/Functional, completly different. I'd also change Erlang for Go, and maybe add Scala there too.

I really dislike the new design. Also, it's just me or the fonts are horribly cluttered? I'm guessing it's my fault and I need some font installed or something, because it's really awful.

I was specifically talking about opensource projects like Linux or Rails: Where most of commits nowadays are small bug fixes. Of course, I'd never leave Emacs for Github when creating software from scratch or doing anything big.

Github is slowly turning into an IDE for the web. In my opinion: In a couple of years we will not use Emacs or Visual Studio or anything like that: Most of programming will be done socially in Github via small changes directly from the webs

I have always wanted to play Ultima Online, since years ago. But too bad it still has monthly fees... $10 a month might not sounds too steep, but I'm in a place I can't pay using credit card nor get dollars... and it sucks.
