It’s a lot of work to set something up for being a sustainable, usable OSS project. It certainly doesn’t make sense to invest time in it upfront when your goal is to sell access to it. Afterwards, founders have usually poured everything the

It depends on the product. Most of my experience is in B2B, for that I recommend building a clickable prototype in Figma or another tool. If you can get 3 customers to sign contracts based on that, the idea has potential.

You want to outsource so you can focus on building your product instead of integrations which are costly to build and maintain. Also it’s not easy to come up with these universal mappings, why reinvent the wheel? It’s unlikely that your int

I don’t think you can really blame Netflix for the change in content over time. In the beginning nobody understood how big streaming would be so Netflix could license whatever for cheap. They were successful and everybody said “oh shit we n

With 10 devs on a monolith, I probably wouldn’t dedicate anyone to infra. Use a PaaS like Render or Aptible, focus on shipping product.

What is there to plan? If you signed a 10 year lease in 2019, it is what it is.

I think this is the biggest factor, but also important to note that commercial leases tend to be long and very difficult / expensive to break.

If you do Rails or are interested in learning it, Ruby for Good has a bunch of great projects with non-profits (e.g. legal aid, animal shelters) that are easy to jump in and contribute to. https://rubyforgood.org/

It’s doable. The challenge typically isn’t in the actually building though, it’s in finding people willing to pay. I recommend trying to acquire customers with mock-ups / clickable prototypes. If you can get 3 or so customers to sign c
