If you don't mind it running in a data center in Europe, you could rent servers from Hetzner for ca. $400 per month for 220TB. I'm sure they can provide a few PB on the spot. Spread them across their locations and you have geo red

Can you really make that much money with behavior data? If that was the case, wouldn't we see more sites with few ads? I believe ads bring in the vast majority of money, behavior data helps ad targeting and can maybe sometimes bring in

It's important though if you don't want to stay at the current company forever. With the right title it's much easier to get a well paying job. Otherwise you'll have to convince future employers why you didn't have

That was filmed in Germany, I would think safety rules are similarly to the US. Maybe it's not as dangerous as it looks at first glance.

I'm interested in the topic but have no understanding in depth. I like upvoting stories like these to revisit them after a day when there are hopefully some interesting comments and/or clarifications. I really like the high signal

No but usually these things can align quite well. Build a user friendly website and usage will go up. It seemed like reddit worked more on getting usage down by restricting a lot of usage to their app. I don't think that's in the

But I don't get why they would degrade quality? Maybe compression to save resources? Otherwise I wouldn't know what they have to gain from it. If anything, they might lose paid subscribers. I loved the results for the $20 I spent,

Maybe it had to do with jailbreaks? A lot of the jailbreaks were related to coding, so maybe they put more restrictions in there. Only speculating, but I cannot imagine why it got worse otherwise.

It should be clear that this was only shot for marketing purposes. I don't think they actually run cables like that, but it probably looked better to have cables visible in the picture.

If any click outside of the ad dismisses it, it'd be much more user friendly than many current implementations. I guess advertisers will stay with current solutions where you have to find a tiny x to close the ad.

That can be much more expensive as it won't automatically find the cheapest option for day passes or multi-day passes. And it's not very convenient to look up and pay separately for every ride if you visit a city and travel a lot.

Maybe they'll change it at some point. I believe if SQL Server was free, it would dominate the business. I last used it 7+ years ago and back then it was (from my subjective experience) better than Postgres is now. And I love Postgres.

but which really remote area gives you 5G with 1ms latency? If it's worth to have that infrastructure you might as well have fiber at home.

Wasn't there also this technique of lowering oxygen levels so much that humans can still survive but fire won't spread as fast? Or did this turn out to be too expensive?

In remote areas, Starlink is probably a better bet than 5G to allow for low latency, high bandwidth use cases.

I second that. I found it by far the most pleasant database to work with, including its tooling. Postgres is probably second. Too bad SQL Server is so expensive.

While you cannot fire everyone in the same second, you can have batches over a few days. There's no need for waves that span over months. If anything, the risk of IP theft is much bigger if people have weeks of uncertainty if they'

Recharging would take a lot of energy but it's not unthinkable to have 1-3 GW supplied to an airport (which is what a reactor would likely supply), large metropolitan areas and large industrial factories already get to similar amounts.

225 Wh/km is even high for most routes and cars. Unless you drive fast on motorways or in cold climate, it's often easy to get to 150 Wh/km (15 kwh/100km as often displayed).
