I am reading novels in Japanese. My method is similar but without the flashcards. I read a page at a time, looking up and writing all unknown vocabulary in a notebook. There could be dozens of new words on the page. I then reread the same p

Reading the replies to this post gives me the impression that this is a major problem, but I haven't witnessed anything like it in the half dozen or so times returning from an overseas trip in the last couple of years. It's not th

Is this comment just made off the cuff? I've called customer service departments at about a dozen or so US based companies in the last couple of years, and haven't found this stereotype to be fair at all. Most of them were from th

Aside from using biometrics, which makes it much easier, you might consider using a long passphrase as the master password. A passphrase is easier to remember and to type than random characters. It’s what I do, and it’s pretty easy to type

Twitter is pretty noisy. An app more focused on local news sounds interesting, if they are able to jump start it.

Improving privacy is great, but I find the extreme approach to erase all history taken by DuckDuckGo and others make them difficult to adopt. I often use the history feature to re-find sites I remember visiting before. Bookmarks don't

Very cool... Some areas for improvement I noticed off the bat while using the app: * Scrolling sometimes feels slow. * Doesn't seem to work with 1 password autofill. Not sure if 1password, DuckDuckGo, or both are needed to address this

Making "legitimate" purchases on Amazon gets more difficult every day. The obvious solution is to buy directly from brands, but I keep using Amazon because it's less risky than spreading personal and credit card details acros

Both are great. Originally I used react-bootstrap. However I switched to reactstrap to get support for bootstrap 4. Reactstrap is more barebones, which is good or bad depending on your style and needs.

Should also mention that it's probably just a matter of time, especially given that "mixed" approach doesn't really work in react-native.

Ton of discussion/debate on this topic and there are clear benefits to an inline style approach, but so far nothing (that I'm aware of) has proven to be scalable enough to completely take over (yet). For me a combination of approa

For React users I'll point out a great integration library http://reactstrap.github.io/ which supports Bootstrap 4 when installed with the @next tag. I've been using this for a while without any issues.

Yeah I see no problem with more choices if they make sense. My reply was in refutation to the point that flying is not faster than high speed rail because of time needed at airport, which is not my experience. Since travel time to/from

Two points on this: 1. I'm not sure how that affects my point. 2. In my experience the price difference for last minute on Amtrak has been at most about 20% (though I'm not a frequent Amtrak traveler).

True. However assuming the price of high speed rail tickets will be fixed because it is a public service, the government could similarly operate an airline instead of high speed rail using the same fixed price system. What would be the cost

Travel time to/from the station only matters if you're closer to the rail station than the airport. As for time to fly, I've made the trip between various airports (SFO, OAK, SMF) and LAX via Southwest many times. I try to ar

Even though the bills are not finalized I think people would like to have an idea of what changes they may be facing, and it also benefits people who like to get informed before debating the issue with others.
