I mean sadly even though I hate the bans the exclusion is really insignificant in the grand scheme of things and the benefits Github brings most of the considered acceptable for the tradeoff. I am sadly one of those people I am fairly young

For starter it looks completely alien my real introduction to Ada was with this article comparing it to Rust on solving advent of code [1] but it gives me that feeling when I try to read Haskell code (not that extreme). I did not actually g

I am personally happy to use Tailscale directly so I don't know. There isn't anything better out there though.

Pretty consistently [1] [2] [3] [4] it comes out that nearly %80 of security vulnerabilities come from memory safety vulnerabilities. I would consider that largest. Especially Microsoft's doc is pretty telling that this ratio was prett

Rust has stability guarantees. As long as you don't update version of your binary/library new compiler versions can compile for that version and you can even interlink different editions so I really don't understand this argu

The point of unsafe is you have small bubbles of unsafe which you can verify rigorously or use tools like Miri to make sure they upheld and you build safe abstraction on top of that unergonomic part. Looking at embedded-hal and even to extr

The problem is they forgot about making the language approachable so it lives in its bubble for safety criticial usage (which Rust kinda starting to eat its lunch from with the certified Rust fork)

Related library Sguaba [1] from Helsing AI written by Jon Gjengset it allows you to define coordinate systems on the type level and safe conversion and calculation with them. [1] https://github.com/helsing-ai/sguaba

I think using a closed source solution (except the platform native solution) for such a core part of an application is a big no.

The annoying thing is recycling nuclear waste is kind of a solved problem. I've watched this video a while ago but iirc it is just more expensive to build a reactor that can also recycle its own waste. https://www.youtube.co

I think that is mainly because crypto or anything crypto related is tainted bu scams etc. So a regular user just doesnt have the same trust. Another problem is crypto gets attackwd way more since it also involves real money.

I don't see any of the Xs that would not possible to generate code for and expose compiler intrisincs for. You don't reinvent the wheel here you generate the NVVM bytecode and let Nvidia handle the rest.

I think it could be improved a lot by niche optimization passes on the codegen backend. Kinda like the autovectorization and similar optimizations on the CPU backends.

Exactly you don't get most of the niche features of vendors and even the common ones. First to come in to mind is Ray Tracing (aka RTX) for example.

The thing is you don't have to have the WebGPU layer in this with rust-gpu since it is a codegen backend for the compiler. You just compile the Rust MIR to SPIRV

I mean that will improve only with time though, No? Maintainers recently revived the rust-gpu and rust-cuda backends. I don't think even the maintainer would say this is ready for prime time. Another benefit is having able to run the s

What I am wondering is if the complexity of AWS is required for 99 percentile. There are a lot of niche services and duplicated ones on AWS and a targeted replacement for the most popular ones would be enough for most.
