I'm not OP and it's not haskell, but fsharpforfunandprofit.com really clicked for me, personally.

I think one of the most important things I learned from functional programming was how to consider and handle purity and side effects. Not necessarily by wrapping everything in IO monads in my non-functional code or anything like that. But

And if you rely on one of my packages and I delete it from github or make it private, your build stops working, right? Everyone was up in arms about npm allowing this a few months back. Rightfully so, I think, but I feel like it's goin

And don't you have to reopen database connections for each php request? Even that seems fairly difficult to scale, unless there's a way around it that I'm not aware of (I don't use php very often, definitely not at scale

I find alternating the type of exercise to be helpful too. If I had to go to the gym 7 days a week, I'd get really bored. So instead, some days I hit the gym, other days I practice my drums (playing fast metal / punk so I'm t

I suppose they're only the publisher, so maybe this doesn't count, but Doom 2016 is hands down the best fps I've played in a long time.

Depends on the language too, I suppose. I'd be more shocked if they said they had never used recursion, but were using haskell at work.

Interesting. My experience was in the US, and I would have kept that 0 unless my professor was feeling _very_ generous. I don't think it would be completely unheard of to have a professor with a policy like you described, but I never r

An exam where you can hand in a blank paper to try again later and not just get a 0 seems like it would be uncommon. I certainly never had that experience.

I've seen icons out in the wild of container-ish shapes (box, etc) with an arrow pointing into the container. Seems to work well enough.

I think naming the branch and/or the pr title after the jira ticket works too. I think it just needs to contain it, too. My feature branches usually look something like feature/proj-123-short-description. But to be honest, my exte

I agree. I use the command line for everything but staging, and I often only stage parts of files while discarding a few leftover pieces I forgot about. I use sourcetree, but the concept is the same. GUI git is really nice for staging parts

An int64 type is being added to Javascript in the near future, I believe. Of course it will take a while to be supported everywhere, but they are taking steps in that direction at least.

I agree. xdebug was one of the worst debugging experiences I've ever had. Node with vscode was incredibly easy. I'm not sure I see the comparison at all.

I don't know a ton about the situation -- I do know that the streamer in question was active enough with the community that an NPC in the game was named after him, though.

I feel like testing things by replacing pieces of a prototype would be fairly fragile anyways. Is there a reason you couldn't use some form of composition to mock / abstract your dependencies instead?

Depends on the language. Javascript, for example, would use a linter for this warning.

I'm not sure I agree with that. The media quote, I mean. There's plenty of media companies (on both sides of the political spectrum) that are definitely trying to tell you what to think. Maybe not all of them, but there are some.

Same problem in Javascript. There's actually a yoda lint rule that encourages you to write your code like (1 === a) instead, so you don't accidentally make that mistake.
