No doxxing was necessary, Tillie did it all publically, publishing on a home server, making announcements on Telegram under their real name. I don't quite get it either, but they specifically didn't want to hide in (pseudo)anonymi

MoinMoin2 exists and works on Python 3, but sadly there's still no stable release and it requires slightly older Python packages right now. We've also had strange problems with index (Whoosh library) performance on a large wiki th

Yes, I have my own cobbled-together mail setup on a home server. I would probably use a commercial service if I didn't already have a server running numerous other things, though.

If you start using shell scripts, you are throwing away the whole advantage of build systems, which is only rebuilding what is necessary. Using multiple manual build phases (even if you have a shell script calling them all) also increases c

I'm not going to say your complaints are invalid, but you're setting a very high bar, one that no mainstream OS clears today. I've had similar and much worse problems on all the big three platforms.

Any nontrivial change to the base model will mean a lot of complexity in the API layer and degraded performance. Maybe that's worth it for you, maybe if you're exposing this data to hundreds of external users who don't need h

I don't want to start a flame war, but I don't think there are "pro-complexity" and "anti-complexity" sides in programming debates, but really different views on where that complexity should be placed. Is a com

That's somewhat true for me as well, but I generally pay under 5 EUR for a game. Deciding between 20 games and a text editor doesn't look so good. Though as long as Sublime Text's developer is happy with the market share and

I think the official reasoning was that the motherboards weren't made with gen 4 in mind, so signal integrity problems could arise (as they do with many gen 3 riser cables).

It used to work, S3 suspend is a problem-free experience on both Linux and Windows . But some genius thought that laptop hardware needed power management more like a phone without all the software being built for it, with no fallback.

But you do have to pay network usage by the gigabyte, right? And 8 full "hyperthreaded" cores in one machine are more useful than 16 machines with a core each, though I admit I don't know how much such a machine would cost on

Here in the Czech Republic, plenty of government geodata is open (not all for now), but merging datasets is hard, so OSM contributors only do occasional manual imports. It serves as a valuable base and could be used as an OSM alternative on

Here I am, crimping wires for a 3D printer that will draw at most a quarter of the current, and NVIDIA is just giving out connectors with shoddily soldered connections? Shame! It also looks like they think strain relief is optional. EDIT:

Presumably, a train fan wanted to play with announcement audio. Is that not reason enough? I'd try it myself, but local train station announcement systems are commercial software that's licenced by the central rail authority, so I

Today's hardware can scale performance and power consumption by orders of magnitude, I find that solutions that allow quiet day-to-day operation and loud power when needed are meaningful.

What would happen if Twitter was a peer-to-peer FLOSS network? In our current world Twitter is a centralised product backed by a large company, but very little of its user-facing functionality could change and that would no longer be true.

I usually have success puncturing the crust first and then "levering" the knife to create a wide cut that's easy to finish afterwards. Some bread just falls apart on its own, though, this works best on more firm bread.
