Hi speedgoose; I'm founder @ Retool. I'm sorry you were priced out of Retool; we don't want anybody to be that way. We're trying a few pricing experiments now (including self-serve on-prem, not billing per-user, etc.). I

When Marak sent me the email, I read it as a "Hi, I built Faker, might you be interested in acquiring it?". I responded with a "yes, that could be interesting, give me a day to work on this". In the end, we decided that

Hi all! I'm David, CEO @ Retool. I'm looking in to this right now and will update my comment here with a response in the next two hours. Edit: just did a bit of digging. It looks like we have a Retool template that has some fake d

This is one of my favorite comments on HN: https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=25376346 . It really changed my perspective on why Uber has so many software engineers.

Hi! We've considered making Retool open-source (and we may yet). Is there any particular reason you'd want access to the source code? For example, you can host Retool on-prem ( https://docs.tryretool.com/docs/s

Thank you for the comment! Do you mind sharing what exactly you were trying to build and how Retool was too constraining? We'd love to learn which use cases we could be doing better in, so we can improve (even if we're able to con

internal.io is pretty similar to https://www.forestadmin.com/ , or even djangoadmin. If you're looking for a quick, non-customizable CRUD interface on top of your database, both of them are pretty good solutions. Retool

Hi there! Thanks for the comments, and thank you for using Retool! We have a product in beta that (I think) does what you're looking for: the Query Library ( https://docs.retool.com/docs/query-library ). This lets y

Yes, that should work well with Retool. You just need to build the app in Retool, and then enable "public applications", which'll let you expose the app publicly. We don't bill for public users. (Theoretically, the end u

Thank you — seriously — for trying Retool! You're correct on the difference — Retool supports writing back to databases and APIs, which is fairly different from most BI tools. On the latency part — yes! We are currently working on scal

Thank you for trying Retool! I agree that we have a lot of room to improve on the writing of more complicated JS, as well as large-scale refactors. We are working on bringing git syncing to the cloud (currently it's only available on-p
