Python did not have a genesis at Google. It existed before Google did. JavaScript was written by Brendan Eich as the browser-side scripting language for the Netscape browser, originally based on Lisp I believe. It was not meant to be a joke

I am curious how many people the author has taught mathematics to. It doesn't seem a good idea to jump into writing a textbook teaching mathematics unless one has experience of teaching mathematics. But the author makes the very point
