For OSU I built a 2-key keyboard (not to improve timing but to avoid destroying my WASD one that was expensive). It's got a 16 mhz mcu in a busy-loop reading two CPU pins.. It should be pretty fast and consistent (but I don't know

I enjoy these very much, and for different reasons: vim, kate, vscode. On windows, it is also vim, vscode and notepad++. Back in the olden days, I enjoyed UltraEdit32 a LOT, it also allowed me to open files over FTP and edit them online, wh

Another perspective on this is.. When we're rendering a 3D environment on a 2D plane, we're projecting it "down", so that we can perceive it. When we're rendering a 2D environment on a 2D plane, are we doing nothing

Absolutely, this is also why I don't think lfs is suitable. Something more general on operating system design (not that I know of any recent books) and the specifics of your target platform is going to be a much better start.

exactly, if mario had stereo vision, it'd have to be his eyes were on top of each other.. And just like how 3D games projected onto a 2D monitor are not much different from their VR counterparts, a 2D game projected into stereo 1D woul

I wonder if I still have my prototype somewhere, exactly the same thought.. We humans exist in 3D space, yet perceive the world in 2D (with some additional depth perception added).. Sooo.. our perception is 1 dimension less. If someone were

This is really good. Even if it kind of pokes my tender nerve for "good old days of computing" it really stimulates my nerve for "the bright magic future of computing"

I was a pretty average (by Danish standards) consumer of alcohol (for my age) from ages 14 to 31. I'm 36 now, so I've not consumed any alcoholic beverage at all for 5 years. Danish drinking culture is a bit on the heavy side, and

I wonder how work culture will devolve from this kind of idea.. If I had a company, I'd much rather that my employees generate value, rather than "looking busy" and "working hard"
