Looks like this was done in Raphael from scratch. The history panel is very cool. I have my own HTML 5 vector graphics editor http://editor.method.ac which is based off SVG Edit, so I understand the amount of work gone into this, it must

It's canvas. SVG would still need to insert DOM elements and would probably start displaying performance problems at 5000 elements or so.

Color picker for data applies some of the principles mentioned in the article, it's more of a palette generator than a color picker put it produces very good results: http://tristen.ca/hcl-picker/

CMYK is more intuitive than RGB but still not quite there. It is difficult to grasp that mixing a saturated pinkish color (magenta) with yellow will produce red. On top of that, if you add blue (cyan) it will produce black! Printer cartridg

I went through a very similar process and I highly recommend it. I'm a web designer and I had a bit of experience with Javascript (just enough to be dangerous) but I really wanted to build an actual web application. I just couldn't seem to

When working with DOM elements (SVG elements are also part of the DOM) it get messy pretty quickly. Think of it as syntactic sugar, because you can always opt for using standard arrays instead of using Raphael sets... var rects = [//i

This is very cool. I've been wanting an alternative for Raphael in projects that don't require old IE support because of some compromises Raphael does in order to support VML. I am a bit worried that I can't find a way of changing multiple

This compares better to Raphael. D3 is a library to present data visually, and Bonsai is a drawing library. You can draw with D3 and you can produce data visualizations with Bonsai, but they each shine in their own area. Creating a simple b

The star in the left toolbar is a shape library. There are many prebuilt shapes there. You can draw rects and circles by clicking on the corresponding tool and clicking and dragging on the canvas (standard drawing app conventions). You scal

Credit where it is due: this is a fork of SVG Edit http://svg-edit.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/editor/svg-editor.h... which has code that is beyond my mind. I just wish it had a nicer and more usable interface so I forked my own version. It

The face cards appear to be rendering as PNG instead of SVG. Additionally, it would be cool to render the flip as a CSS 3d transform transition and fall back to jQuery flippy where not supported. Also, I'm not sure about the mustache.js + h

I agree with you, but most of the time it's not the ability to explain technical issues what pulls these people ahead, it's the social skills that ease friction among coworkers and clients. I used to work with someone who had this gift. If

SVG sounds pretty much like what you're looking for. Single element CSS hacks like this are impressive demonstrations of technical knowledge, but it was never meant to be used like this.

If your PNGs were coming out larger than your SVGs you were probably plotting more points and precision than needed at the given resolution. You can greatly reduce filesize just by rounding up some decimals.

Wow I can't fathom the amount of work that has gone into this project. Was the multi-line editor a challenge? I know SVG Edit has been struggling with this feature for some time.
