I don't know what all these posters are talking about, VR simulates your elbow + arm position 100% with normal IK. If you don't believe me just load up Echo VR and look at your arms. Valve probably just doesn't want them blo

It's probably just that they would get in the way. IK works brilliantly in VR for arm simulation, see: Echo VR.

So true! The bias towards breastfeeding is out of control. It's nutrition / calories, not magic fairy dust. Research shows they will get slightly less of your antibodies, which if I understand correctly translates to one or two

Thank you! The comparison of kids being easier than dogs is so misleading I don't even know where to begin.

Good point; I should at least reply to him here so that he doesn't think I hate him, which of course I don't. But more to your point, it's the self-censorship you're describing that perpetuates the myth that having kids

I made this meme to express what the first year of parenting is like: https://youtu.be/-br6dC69vdk I can only say this so emphatically over the internet, but if you have not yet had kids, and you even remotely enjoy your

I'm surprised the article doesn't reference the recent Bob Lazar documentary which deals with this alleged tech from a first-hand perspective (Bob was a whistleblower in a lab that worked on a kind of gravity drive, according to h

I appreciate your open-mindedness. The only point I would make in reply is that is is possible to know if it's real or a hallucination, it just hasn't been thoroughly tested. It is possible to design an experiment to test the ex

Thanks. It's just a sticky subject matter, intellectually, so people feel better dismissing all of it. "Men show their character in nothing more clearly than by what they think laughable." -Goethe The irony for me is that I

That's partly why I suggested people try it for themselves, because while I agree my personal subjective experience doesn't qualify as evidence one way or another for it being real / not real, it's much harder to dismiss

This is a very unpopular idea, but I'll say it anyway because it's relevant: With a modest amount of meditation practice you can cause your awareness to exit your body. I say this from personal experience but it's also in t

I like the concept, but if I may editorialize, I feel the phrasing needs work. "The smallest number you can't count to" is a negative statement, which makes it confusing right off the bat. What do you mean, a number I can&#x

Great article--couldn't agree more. Also don't forget Michael Faraday, a bookbinder's apprentice who managed to figure out much of electromagnetism, among other things.
