Gas is already more than 3% cheaper with cash, rent tends to not accept credit, and for me at least the only significant other expense is dining out. If your goal with a tip is to put $X money in their hand, cash will do that more than 3% m

That study doesn’t say that the vaping itself has lower associated health risks, just that it doesn’t have the same, known risks as smoking. It could very easily have more risks that are as of yet unknown, because studies haven’t been aro

Too early for any of the official things to say. We’re still in the “9/10 doctors say smoking is good for your waistline” phase. Call me crazy, but I happen to believe the best thing for my lungs is plain old air.

Parent link says NVDA, VoiceOver, and JAWS all support the implicit way. That’s the industry standard suite to support, they’re all free and available across all platforms. If some company makes a shoddy half baked solution for sale (lookin

I think the key is that if something is flagged/dead, it and all its children are now entirely invisible to me. Whereas before I’d show-dead my way through that particular barrier, to no good effect.

The explicitly mention compression time. It’s actually lower in the new approach. > the compression time per byte of data is significantly lower for zstandard streaming than zlib, with zlib taking around 100 microseconds per byte and zst

That’s why I set my no procrast to an ultra high value and use the service in unauthenticated mode. I can still comment, but I don’t get to vote, see votes, flag, or see flagged comments. All the posible engagement baits and flame war trigg

How many accounts do folks typically interact with online? For me it's just HN, which has some bots but probably not many. GH too, but that's even less likely to be bots (whats the motive?)

Ok so you admit we can identify onion services, and it’s common knowledge that the NSA knows your personal traffic patterns. If you think they can’t correlate the two, I have a bridge to sell you.

How are you imagining the penultimate node in the chain connects to the target server without knowing anything about them?

There is a node that delivers your packet to the target server, is there not?

“Only half” is hilarious. Thanks for that. And if you trust the NSA can’t overcome correlation in the presence of “padding defenses”, then sure: TOR is secure.

You don’t need all the middle nodes. Just the entry and exit, and enough data to do packet timing analysis to correlate them. It’s in fact shockingly easy for a well provisioned actor to trace tor traffic, and this is something the TOR proj

What connection do you think span has to text? To me, span is just the grouping element that defaults to display: inline. This can be used for text, but it can be used for about a million other things too. To me this looks like a fast path
