Agreed that undistracting ambient is the best coding music :) My favorite bands / albums are - AES Dana: Leylines, Perimeters and Pollen - Astropilot: Solora Walk 2, 3 - Carbon Based Life forms: Hydroponic Garden, Refuge, Twentythree,

I was wondering if this could be an actual problem. Assuming a maximum length of 700m, you get 2.73m per axle. So - 2 axle cars must be longer than 5.76m - 4 axle cars must be longer than 10.92m - 6 axle cars must be longer than 16.38m Foun

Thanks! I fully agree. Most of the code probably can be ported to C(++) without much change, it's just a few loops over arrays, except for the image loading part. Best solution might be to extend a similar existing unix tool. Can you r

Let's assume it's feasible to run this kind of simulation in the future. Wouldn't this be unethical and hence probably illegal, making it less likely?

Maybe somebody should write an RFC... Not sure how complex this would be to support in terminals in general though. After all, you may suddenly need much more information per cell than the 2 ints for the code point and color...

Thanks! I haven't seen one that does 24bit RGB + shape matching, would be interested in pointers (shading chars don't make sense in 24 bit color space). Unfortunately I had to remove some of the more interesting diagonal shapes be

Interesting to see "conservatives" whining about urban sprawl and blaming it on Keynesian policies now -- while they had originally promoted it for nuclear survivability, improving the "feasibility" of a nuclear war.

Not sure about satellites. Facebook and Google are experimenting with solar-powered planes and balloons for this purpose. One problem with satellites is that you can't make them stay at the same spot, except for geostationary orbit abo

I really hate this kind of article. Good writing has a summary of the most important stuff at the top and then drills down into various interesting aspects. Thanks for the TL/DR, I had given up after the first paragraph.
