You're only charged by a 3rd party if you hire them to handle your taxes. If you deal with the forms yourself and mail it it's free.

Just tell them you are at an advanced stage with another companies, your timeline is pretty aggressive and if there's a way to skip some steps it would help make it work for both of you.

At the core of it, this is the reason we're now seeing the RTO push. Execs don't want peons to share their privileges. They were fine with it during lockdown because got to keep making money. But now, back to the field, serfs!

I do review CC statements diligently. I use GnuCash for my household accounting and refuse to use any SaaS or automated solution. I do want to review my statements, be it CC, pay stubs, 401k, etc so I know what's happening. Yeah it tak

I use trello for "personal todo list". Shared with my wife, it helps to keep track of "house projects" we have in the work.

Then maybe I missed the point of your thing. What's the value you're providing exactly if I still need to run my interviews? This would not be saving me any time or money.

Sorry but this makes no sense to me. Anyone can put whatever on a resume. I can pay some guy in a 3rd world country to build me a nice looking website. You would be doing even less than a recruiter to vet my experience. You would absolutely

I just want to comment on the "move into engineering management " but because I've seen it 2 or 3 times on this thread. I've been in management for 6 years after 15 years as an IC and I still hate tech. Probably depends

The main difference I've experienced is how people take themselves so seriously. The incessant hustle culture is so laughable, especially when you're working on a dumb app. The tech itself is also an issue as you said. 15 years ag

God do I hear you. If I could make the same money painting houses or working in a library I would do it in a snap. It's probably mostly me, but tech today seems so boring, dumb, and shallow. It was so much more fun 10 or 15 years ago.

The title says it all. But people who mock aren't interested in changing others' mind, or helping the cause. They just want to "score points" and feel better about themselves.

When most paragraphs and the whole post start with "I" it's a good indicator that this should be in your diary. Nobody is forcing you to put baby pictures online. Nobody cares about other people's kids.
