There was this case a while ago of a wannabe cannibal who found someone who wanted to be eaten. The cannibal was arrested. Are you saying he shouldn't have been and it was perfectly fine for him to eat a consenting adult? And admitte

It is indeed a stupid system. Private insurance is very expensive compared to the premium you usually pay when you're covered by your employer's plan. Employers can negotiate better prices because they bring a pool of insured to

Doesn't sound like a lay off to me, you were just terminated and let go. When you lay people off you don't replace them, you eliminate the position.

I'm not sure I understand how the question goes from how would you invest $100k to how you spend your day. Are we talking investment here, or starting a business that you run?

I know many holes could be poked in my opinion, but I believe that at this point in time we could probably stop making movies, tv shows, even books. We already have enough amazing, intemporal content to fill many life times.

That's interesting because as a hiring manager I get a lot of push back on our take-home since it does cut you off after a certain amount of time. Our take home shouldn't take more than 90/120minutes, we give candidates up

How is it different if you ask them to take 2 or 3 1hour calls? At the end of the day, interviewing - regardless of take home, whiteboarding, pair programming, leetcode - is a time commitment. Yes people with a family or limited spare time

I infer from your comment that you are not a manager. To (good) managers, knowing "how you are" is critical. As a manager, there is nothing more important to me than finding out if my reports are sad, annoyed, tired, frustrated,

No, but I dont have that many to begin with: Prime, HBOMax and Fastmail. I sometimes think about canceling Prime since i dont use the streaming service, but due to some recurring purchases I end up saving money.

The switch that I really regretted was the move from "open play" to "good vs bad". When I was a kid I had a ton of castle sets. They were pretty much "neutral". Various factions doing their thing, some a bit mo

Only half joking, but we could also stop making movies altogether. And writing novels or songs. We have enough of high quality media at this point that one life is not enough to consume it all.
