As a proponent of sortition i would (half) jockingly argue that all elections are fixed bu design. They oppose pre selected candidates and their outcome rarely matters.

Kind of like Disney's priority passes that now everybody has to buy to hope to get on a ride at some point during the day.

OTOH this whole "I didn't value your service enough to pay for it, but now that you failed and open sourced it I'll jump on it" attitude is kind of annoying. I can absolutely understand startup founders who are a bit spi

Maybe we should teach kids to just ignore the media at this point.

Did the same, but it looks like this security issue would allow someone to just unfreeze before taking a loan in your name.

I've made several attempts, but I legit can't get past the first 2 hours of gameplay. Call me superficial, but the interface is just so messy. It's so disorganized and all over the place.

So? As I said in another post, is it harder than working with cancerous kids? Or being on the road for days to only see your family every other weekend? Are you really claiming that it's easier than bickering with the PM during standup

There is a medium between "easy" and "hardest job in the world". People really live in a bubble. Try being a nurse working in cancer kid unit for a few years like my wife. Try being a trucker who sees their kids every ot

I'm not sure either why you feel that way. The BEAM has amazing tools to debug at runtime and explore/modify your system while it's running. Yeah you'd need to learn it, but it's like any other tool.

It's as if when you decide to put yourself out there publicly on social media you should be prepared to receive negative comments. Who would have thought?

Can't tell if the suggestion is serious but I'll bite: how do you distinguish from jokes/sarcasm? Not everybody knows how to use /s or jk.

Another one of these "let me tell you about this thing that happened to me once" article. Do we really need to read people's diary in an "article"? Also, kudos to this kid, must have been tough keeping it so real wi

I would like to know what was actually in the contract. Being told something is wind until it is either enforced by a local law or in the signed contract. If I get let go tomorrow, HR can tell me they'll compensate me with a baby unico

I open a link about an article claiming that "right turn on red" kills pedestrians, and the fist 3 paragraphs are about a lady having to fix her bike. So yeah, not the best start to make your point.

Every 6 months we get the same articles, the same studies showing that this DST BS doesn't save any energy, impacts people's health, etc etc and yet nobody is seriously talking about ending this shenanigans. Personally I like waki

Not lately no, been married 12 years. But I don't remember ever hearing about debates as heated as masks around condoms. Yeah there are fringe groups advocating for no birth control and all, but what's really their market share? D
