They could just let ios 6 continue to be installed on the iPhone 4, or let you restore from your own back-ups. I think this was actually possible for the first few weeks of ios 7 release, but then they "unsigned" the older versio

The initial release was pretty bad, but subsequent ones are fine. Safari, for example, is at least as fast as before. More annoying are third party developers testing only on new hardware. A phone that can run "Infinity Blade"

Traveling with my kids has been easier (in this regard) because the family line doesn't have the full body scanners at any of the airports I've been through (Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Houston, Denver, Seattle ...). Traveling alon

This is a false dichotomy. Calculus and measure theory underlie probability theory which provides the foundation for most of statistics. Stochastic calculus is another tool for dealing with noise in systems. Good luck understanding stoch

I really didn't like Pascal in high school, but this was ~1990 and we were using Apple IIe's, so no Turbo Pascal. I remember strings and printing being a nuisance. Later we got to use Logo and that was much more satisfying.

You can fence two adjacent sides, say north and west, and have another fence from the center to the southeast corner. That's 2+(1/sqrt(2))~2.707. The number I got was from keeping the center to SE corner fence, and finding three

I much prefer French press coffee. OTOH, the paper filter removes something that causes LDL cholesterol to increase, which at the time it was reported, was considered a bad thing.

I wouldn't feel any moral qualms about downloading the torrent (still huge) if I had the box of discs on my desk. The swapping of discs isn't as bad as the tagging. Is the set tagged on Musicbrainz?

The article actually goes further to suggest it's not how you treat your child, but also how they see you treat others. Being a decent person is a great first step, but even so your child will eventually (probably often) do something y

How can children "push themselves such that they can land good grades without needing to study"? I can see not needing to cram for an exam, because a child has already put the effort in, but learning seems to require some form of

I'd love to see Logo have a bit of a revival. It's great in that kids can start making pictures immediately, and learn more sophisticated syntax as they need it. The only thing that would make it more appealing to children would
