Firstly this logic doesn't hold water. Month is not the most important, day of month is. "What date did you mean?" can easily be answered with "the 25th" if it's a nearby date, month only becomes relevant if di

I don't know the exact number but almost all of China's oil is imported, and almost all of that comes through Sea. That is not something Russia can fix on a short timeline. It's one reason why Pacific naval power remains an i

I find this a weird take. In my country we're always amazed that there are places in most largish US cities where it simply isn't safe to be if you aren't a native, and lethal violence is a daily occurence.

That export sounds like a suspicious claim, do you have sources? afaik DE, FR and NL are much bigger exporters, and a random Google result seems to back that, placing Italy 5th in EU absolutely and almost last by GDP [1] [2] [1] https:

The analogy is even more apt when you think that most of the things Apple and Microsoft became big with in the 90's - like mouses and GUIs - were invented as Xerox but they failed to monetize, just like the basis for GTP came from Goog

You could add a schema_version column and use one constraint per schema version. It will only be per major version, if the schema is backwards compatible there's no problem.

It's the main reason beef and lamb are so much worse in terms of CO2-equivalent than pork or chicken, and cheese isn't good either.

In the latest LTS those all can still be enabled, so while it is a serious problem when they are finally removed, for now it's not really a good reason to block an upgrade.

I unfortunately encounter this mindset so much in Java programmers, and the similar "we don't need no feature X" even if the feature has proven themselves for a long time in a large amount of languages. I'm hesitant to b

Say the 1% 10y $100 bond is now worth $80 and there are now 5% bonds available. Say the monkey NFT is down from $100 to $80. The monkey NFT could be sold and 5% bonds could be bought, which will also pay out >$100 eventually.

I fail to see the difference, note that the title mentions "depegs". If they buy 1 USDC at $0.9 with their reserves, they can remove the USDC, and keep $0.1 since they'll need $1 less reserve. How is this fundamentally differ

That's the whole point of a peg. If your thing goes below the pegged value, use your other assets to buy until your thing reaches pegged value (and vice versa). That's what "backed" means.
