Apple TV has not been financially successful. I imagine this is a last ditch attempt to draw in new viewers in hopes of converting them to a subscription.

Americans think of it this way because our bank statements will show the USD amount, no matter where we buy things. And to us, it is "spending USD" because that's what we had to earn.

I told Mom that, too. By putting yourself on a plane and spending money there, you are sending the message that you like France and that's the message they receive. They know that makes you different from Americans who don't come.

Thanks for this timely post! My mother is going to Paris next week and asked me the very same question. I concur with Rick. In my experience travelling and living in Europe, Americans are well liked despite whatever politics the country as

Tastes differ, but personally (and as a fan of fine typography) I find these fonts hideous and more difficult to read than normal text. And $39K for a server license? The effect could be done in JS for free.

I'm definitely interested but I couldn't get it to work on Firefox on Android. I get "A client side exception has occurred." Chrome works, though.

That's fair. It's certainly not "open source" in that way that term is usually used. I still think that's not the primary issue and that the manufacturers are being honest about their preference for proprietary form

I second that. MCP is more of a scaffolding concept than a solution itself. There is no safety in consulting an LLM on anything. What you're building is a RAG app that must coordinate LLM calls and tool calls. Any safety built into tha

None of this is terrifying and seems overblown. I read the patent grant you linked to. It makes sense that one would not grant the right to make incompatible versions. That would confuse the user. Also, the right of revocation only applies

This is not correct. Both the subhead of the article and the DNG format's Wikipedia Page state that DNG is open and not subject to IP licensing. While having two file formats to deal with in software development definitely "compet

The most fascinating part of this is that YC isn't asking for any non-AI startups. That says a lot about the future of software development. This is the new way.

I agree and it worked as long as that carve-out were permitted. But if we want to make that stuff here, we certainly can and every community targeted for such a factory would welcome it. Working class Americans lived their highest standard

AI will improve the lives directly of people who work in that field or apply it profitability, so naturally we're enthusiastic. Whether the products of those efforts improve the lives of other people remains to be seen. In many ways, a

This is fascinating, useful, and slightly terrifying. I definitely want to try sending a screenshot or console logs on command but I'd want to be the one deciding exactly when that happens and in the context of what other prompt. I oft

Very true. A couple years ago I designed a custom card game and had it manufactured in China, just a small run. It was already hard to make any profit on a small indie item like that. A bigger tarrif would have priced me out completely when

The US game industry is horrified by this. As the largest market for games, reduced purchases in the US affect everyone who works in the business -- one that is already the poster child for layoffs. Anything that punishes the games business

This is an excellent article but starts out with the false dichotomy of vibe vs craft programming. An alternate term is starting to appear, flow coding or agentic coding, where the tool is supervised and direced into coding precise areas un

The shocking part of this story is not that you could vibe code a note taking app in a week, it's the idea that it would cost $300 in LLM agent fees! That's too much and speaks poorly of both the tool he chose and the vibe approac

That's like asking how to make money on the internet. The answer is to integrate it into something you already know how to monetize -- an area where you already have expertise. If you work in software, this would be figuring out how to

There most definitely is. You can ask Cursor to do both those things, for example. It's often faster at it than a person. That said, "vibe coding" implies a hands-off approach that definitely doesn't work.

Not to be dismissive, but we could describe all of programming this way. Since computers just run machine code and deal only with simple math and swapping memory and storage values, all of our code is just "reframing" the problem

I agree. It seems clever and it requires that two consoles be physically present to swap games between them. That gives Nintendo players an extra way to share their digital games that other platforms don't have.
