People are the harder problem. A game server is not a box you turn on and it just runs. The platforms themselves change under you all the time as do all the SaaS tools you rely on. Clients change all the time, too, and one missed update can

The whole conception is flawed. You can't have "proof of humanity" in a digital form. Those are just bits. They'll be faked and manipulated and "verified" when they're not real like all other bits. The ins

The problem is the cost and knowledge base required to keep servers running. A game server is a big proprietary ball of spaghetti with hundreds of API endpoints and only the people who built it really know how it works[0]. It's expensi

Leonardo AI has a model trained for making UI previews as bitmap graphics. It's a great service overall and has generous free limits, too.

I got a big Roku 4K TV for next to nothing on a holiday deal 3 years ago. It works great. The ads aren't intrusive and it handles power and input switching (and auto HDR and game modes) from my two game consoles. The mobile app is good

I wanted to read this but Edward Tufte would be very unhappy with these charts. They're full of unlabeled data and confusing numbers. I left at the second section.

COBOL isn't a domain specific language by the usual meaning. It was designed for business use cases rather than Fortran that was for math folks but both are fully general purpose languages[0]. A DSL is a language made up by you, the us

Not really open source but still having a useful free library, I like Fontawesome a lot. If you do buy a license for the whole thing, it is yours to keep and use and doesn't expire. You only have to upgrade if you want the stuff that&#

There is always a positive takeaway after you get enough distance from something. My last studio was a complete catastrophe. I was angry for a while after they laid us all off. But I realized that I had been given a college education in h

It definitely isn't a lottery ticket. Steam doesn't award people anything. It's up to you to make your game great and then make it popular.

This may be true but shouldn't be read as an indicator of any shady business on Valve's part. Steam makes most of their money from commissions, not developer sign up fees. Steam sells a lot of games and the game market as a whole

Inter[0] was designed specifically for readability on the web, and you can get all the weights out of a single file. I use this trick in my blog[1] to get typographic variety within the same font. It's become my go-to. [0] https:/

I don't believe that it takes 300,000 people to assemble iPhones. The "cost" argument is a thinly veiled way of saying, "We don't want to pay people in America American wages." Our contemporary American lifesty

The technology on which it relies was invented here and could be built here again. The consumer cost of an iPhone is due to the extraordinary profits Apple extracts from it. Those profits could pay US labor rates easily.

I also think this is the reason. It's like someone woke up and realized we don't make electronics in the US and it only punishes American consumers to raise prices for them. We could make everything electronic here. Those indust

The problem isn't resources. It's access to the resources we already have, which all flow to an increasingly smaller number of wealthy individuals. Humanity, as a whole, would be best served by ensuring basic human needs are met f

Serious gambling in most industries like casinos, NFTs, F2P and PTW games is all driven by whales[0]. Horse racing has been taken over by math whales, too. The house knows the small fish are only there as food for the whales. [0] Source: I&

Agreed. This is an overblown explanation of a protocol for API communication between agents. Nothing more. It could be useful if setup in a way that works for you on both ends. And we all know how likely that is with anyone else's AP

But this article isn't about fake brands or even fake perfumes. It's about legal imitation scents with their own house brand names. To me, their popularity suggests that buyers want a less expensive product that also smells fancy.
