That is not the only use for Facebook, although sadly I think a lot of people view it that way. Social media is a great way to find out about new things which have been vetted by your social network, meaning you're much more likely to

Wow, that's a huge amount of insecurity balled up into a single post. Way to validate the research mate! Sounds like you need to practice letting go / not caring about your reputation and what other people think, and just be yours

Utterly false, and a dangerous belief held by many business-oriented types who think that engineers are a dime a dozen, and their ideas are what really matter. In this case, no Woz = no Apple.

Agreed, this is classic Woz. He didn't take any of the offense that others seem to think he should have, nor was he heaping scorn on Jobs here. Just telling it like it is, as is his want.

Having looked over a lot of mechanical keyboards recently, it's fairly uncommon to find both mechanical action and backlighting in a single keyboard. I think some of the 'gamer' class ones have them, and that's about it.

This is the exact model I'm typing on now, and have a Das Keyboard for Mac at home (because I couldn't find anything less pretentious-sounding with Mac keys). The thing I prefer with this keyboard over the Mac standard, and simila

Not to mention, most office space is pre-constructed out of snap-to-fit desk/cubicle walls. The chance of me getting a height adjustable desk is between zero and a very small number. Unless I qualified for an actual office (~10% of the

I use Spotlight to open apps the majority of the time as well. But people are fuzzy logic creatures. Sometimes they know the app by name, sometimes they need to see it in the context of a menu ("Oh, it's that program in the Produc

The problem is, by the time it affects enough of the general public, it's already to late. It's the classic "First they came for..." problem.

RIM has been offering incentives for developing apps for their store, I'd guess a lot of these were just an attempt to cash in on that.

Yep. These are designed to look like 'normal' cars so as not to spook the generally conservative market. Mk II or III will be significantly different in design from today's car I think.

Provided there's enough room in the back for soccer junk for 3+ kids + shopping bags, it'll be the perfect around-town car for mums. And that's a huge segment of traffic, at least around here.

Hah! I was wondering about that; I thought their designer had just decided that side mirrors were too ugly on the 3D model. I really like the way these guys think. This is truly disruptive design at work.

We have a 4WD (what Aussies call SUVs) with a roof rack, and have never taken it off road. We use it for skis, surfboards, extra luggage (family of 4). Roof racks are an extremely useful addition to a car, for a family.

Agree with this. There's a large measure of difference between detaining a private citizen (bad), and detaining somebody under the employ of a journalist organisation (far, far worse). One is harrassment, the other is political intimid

Yeah, the Isaacson book is almost unreadable. Obviously rushed to coincide as closely as possible with his death, and just not a good book by any standard. The lack of even cursory editing is telling.

Often, anticipation is what ruins a movie. All of the best movies I've seen (The Matrix, Fifth Element spring to mind) had such obtuse trailers that I had no idea what was going on before I got in there.

No, the problem is that complex systems fail in non-obvious ways. Even highly technical and computer savvy people still need to hit the reset button on a Windows PC or router, due to an un-diagnosable problem which then magically goes away.
