As part of my condo fees I have access to a community swimming pool. Last year I didn't use it even once. Big mistake, it's a wonderful way to spend an afternoon, either by yourself or with friends. I take my ipod, drinking water, my com

I've tried both ways. I tried to do the "nice sendoff" by giving a huge 2 month notice, and even trained my replacement, documented all my procedures etc. What did I get? It turned out apparently I hadn't been at the company long enough,

It's not bold or dumb in Canada. Expect to see similar plans from Rogers and Bell very soon. The Canadian telecom industry, backed by the CRTC, has operated as a public cartel for a very long time now. These are the same folks responsibl

Let me get this straight, he invents a new technology, doesn't patent it, then sends a prototype to one of the most vile software companies in the world, then gets fucked over big time... and he's surprised??

Exactly my point. YC says that's what they're looking for, but YC startups tend to look more like this little "social calculator" web app then a company that will invent a new operating system, programming language, and personal computing

According to Wikipedia: The term "patent troll" was used as early as 1993 to describe companies that file aggressive patent lawsuits.

How many of these businesses would buy Google Apps for the same or more than what Microsoft Office + Exchange costs? That's how I judge quality. And I can pretty much guarantee that few, or none of those businesses would choose Google App

People incorrectly give Google credit for quality when it's not deserved. There are very few products that Google makes that would survive in the "real" marketplace if they weren't free and not subsidized by their search revenue. Google Do

They aren't suing every Android OEM out of necessity. Microsoft has converted to patent troll in lieu of innovating in the mobile space.

I hope that was satire. He needs to learn how to write HTML forms by hand, and a script to process the submissions. In that case, Rails MVC + SASS + HAML would be an absolutely abysmal way to learn how to do it. Python and barebones html

The only difference between Lodsys and large software/hardware companies like Microsoft and Oracle is the size of their litigation targets. I'm beyond convinced that the entire software patent systems needs to be abolished.

You're missing the meta-strategy that Google ideally wants all computing I/O to run through its filters. If you use Gmail, Chrome browser and OS, Google Docs, Android, and now G+, then Google has a vice grip on your balls. Google isn't the

You're just ahead of your time. Fortunately, with the way computing seems to be heading, one day we all will be able to say we still have every file (document, image, etc) we ever created.
