Oh boy do I have news for you! Xamarin [1] does exactly this. You write your app logic in C#, which is then AOT compiled to native code. You the write the UI for each platform using native APIs (although you can use Xamarin.Forms if you tru

Ah, thanks for the details there! So, given that my Cloud Functions project is a Go app (and would be the exact same code between Functions and Run), if I were to run that in a very minimal container (something like Alpine), I could get rou

I haven't launched it, so I'm not sure about performance. My main concerns are cold starts and concurrency. It's my understanding that Cloud Run has higher concurrency per container instance, so my guess would be that Cloud R

I'm about to launch an API that uses Cloud Functions for the entire app (it's a pretty simple API anyway). I know that Cloud Run gives me more features (being based on containers and all), but given that my API already runs on Clo

I'm getting ready to deploy a Cloud Functions service. I wonder what I'd gain by making it a Cloud Run service instead? I imagine cold starts for Cloud Functions are highly optimized (since they're runtime-specific).

I was super interested in buying one of these, but the markup is just too much for my tastes. I built out a reasonable workstation (9900K, 16 GB RAM, 500 GB NVMe SSD, 1TB SSD, RX 580) and the cost came out to $2,359 versus the $1,582 it wou

I don't think you'd use the unfolded form one handed. I imagine it'd be more like holding a small tablet.

The Fold is $2,000, so I highly doubt it'll cannibalize the sales of the S10.

Furthermore the "definition" they provide is something they came up with; a Google search for portions of the definition only returns results for the article itself.

This article has no citations for the history/use of the term. It was largely written by a single editor over a decade ago.

FWIW, TrueHD also contains a lossy core (AC3 in this case), just like DTS-HD MA. I was also surprised to see that my TrueHD tracks are 24-bit, but my DTS-HD MA tracks are 16-bit.

From what I've found, Netflix's highest quality audio is a lossy 640 kbps Dolby Digital+ (E-AC3) stream. For comparison, the highest quality BluRay audio would be the lossless formats Dolby TrueHD and DTS-HD MA. Both of these form

I mean, just turn off the internet on your TV. Most TVs have terrible built-in software anyway. My TV isn't connected to the internet, so it can't track what I'm watching.

IIRC only the Node.js runtime has the ability to be emulated locally. Is this still the case? If I wanted to test my function locally, how would I go about doing that?

I'm still really disappointed that Ember gave up on trying to compete with libraries like React on bundle size. I loved my experience with Ember, and I really like what they've done recently, but the fact that out of the box it&#x

Photobak is really close, but Google's API apparently has several issues making it not a true solution. IIRC you can't download the original uploaded bytes, and you can't get the original EXIF data.

If I'm reading the pricing page correctly, DocumentDB would run a _minimum_ of $200/month. That's for the smallest instance and no storage or I/O. Kind of steep if you ask me.

If I remember correctly, the pricing model for Aurora Serverless is different from Lambda in that you pay as long as the engine is running, whereas with Lambda you only pay when the function is executing. Keeping an Aurora Serverless instan

As far as I can tell, there's no such thing as "conventional 2.4A USB charging". The USB 2 spec limits power output to 5v, 900 mA. USB 3 has the Battery Charging Specification that allows up to 1.5 A. I think you might be thi
