Is it just a coincidence that I never hear again of a company that declared something like this?

Given that Scala is far more complex, learning Go from scratch is probably a lesser task.

The results of the latency benchmark say that a larger latency is better. Is that a mistake?

Interesting point. I wonder if it would have an effect on how non-programmers view coding if programming language constructs were renamed like that.

orgmode's org-table.el is about 5k lines, including comments, and I never felt it lacked any features. It uses other libraries of course, and is rather dense lisp code.

When will we start getting actual data on the effects of legalization? As someone who lives in a rather conservative country when it comes to drug laws, I'd be very interested.

Would you agree that there's a demand for a simple and reliable MQ? Possibly one that just supports Stomp, possibly written in Golang? That just works and does nothing fancy?

Are you seriously suggesting that Google should not immediately block a website when they detect malware on it... because millions of people are using that site?

Everybody seems to laugh and rage about this, but could somebody tell me if this is correctly detected or not? I would not be surprised at all if somebody had breached php.net. Did they properly check against intrusions?

Many of us lived through the 90s, when Microsoft strongarmed their technically inferior products to the whole PC industry. In fact, they pretty much invented the whole closed-source proprietary software model, and I totally agree with Stall

Well, a forum is essentially the same thing as BBSs were in the 80s but now we have computers that are several thousand times faster. I find it much more "amazing" that the other forums are so slow.

Personally, I couldn't anymore handle the way ports asks for configuration options for every package that has configurable options. I'm spoiled by the "sane defaults" stance of better Linux distros like Arch.

Colon + indentation is actually the most natural way to signify a block that I have ever seen. Pretty, non-cluttering and sort of light for the eyes. And it's not without precedent: it resembles how colon is used in text.
