No, I mean the MS headed by the man who famously called Linux "a cancer” and still operates on the premise the kernel is in violation of MS patents ( http://arstechnica.com/microsoft/news/2010/02/microsoft-amaz... ) I mean the IBM which p

If you look at it as a group of kids figuring it out as they go, it's an interesting adventure to follow. If you look at it as a group of kids running a business, it's embarrassing. The fact that they hit so many completely unexpected hurdl

Hayek sums it up nicely: "The curious task of economics is to demonstrate to men how little they really know about what they imagine they can design."

All agreements we had were via chat and voice and not in legal sheet. Chat/email/voice are more than sufficient to establish a contract in the US legal system. Read the introductory "elements of a contract" section from here: http://www.

I'm well aware of what the implementation is. If you read the reference, closing over variables is one of the most common source of customer complaints about a "bug" in the compiler as the implementation is completely counter-intuitive unti

I'm with you on this one. After the initial 'serendipity' of google, PB's reputation was sealed and he could pick his title and company. While it's interesting to speculate if PB had chosen a pets.com instead of google what would have happe

Similarly, I only read his article to check whether he chose the title as posted on HN. Sure enough, he did. All the credit to him for knowing how to play his audience. That showed a tremendous amount of perspicacity.

That's still a tough sell; you subset off the awful bits and are left with nothing but a "decent OO language"? What's the upside? Conservation of intellectual momentum?

I can't decide whether my inability to tell whether this is satire reflects a failing of mine or of the author. Writing a long-winded blog post about a simple idea, which itself is about distilling ideas to their essence is too obvious, rig

Instead of being motivated only by technology have you considered trying to create a product or starting a company? (this is HN after all). Lots of people using (and maybe even liking) something you built can be pretty compelling.
