It's the flip side of the Apple adoration. If Apple releases something which doesn't suit people it's as upsetting as if their favorite band had released a clunker of an album because you know it'll be a long time until they have a chance

I didn't understand his objection here. Is it the inconvenience of hitting the "windows" button? With the iphone's touch interface this is painless and I can't imagine it'll be any worse for the ipad.

Not to mention that having a birds-eye view of the spam situation will let him black list accounts, because a spammer is a spammer for the first user he follows as much as the next hundred.

The syndrome exists (or does not exist) independent of the diagnosis. I can't comment on your second sentence but it seems completely speculative and I can't imagine how you can substantiate it.

very cool. you need to register @followham though and add it to the "do you want to tweet about about this?" message rather than "follow ham" as it currently is so we can refer directly to you to spread the site.

You can read whatever subtext and be as offended as you wish. My only purpose was to highlight his well-known issue with Aspergers. You can do with it as you like.

I completely agree and don't think it excuses his misbehavior but rather helps explain it. I'll leave the moralizing and righteous indignation to the others.

Watch any of his talks or speak to anyone who has ever worked with him. It's not just about being rude but genuinely not understanding the socially correct behaviour to his own detriment. Exhibit A: not realizing that it is a bad idea to po

Bram Cohen's Aspergers is well-publicized ( http://www.businessweek.com/magazine/content/08_43/b41050468... ) and essential context for anything you read about/by him.

http://web.mit.edu/newsoffice/ is the online alumni magazine whose, like every other alumni magazine on earth's, sole purpose is PR about the great things the school is doing. It isn't exactly scientific american.

I disagree. You can see the repercussions from that in things like the Global Warming stories where everyone at HN collectively cringes when terms like "scientific consensus" are tossed about. There's no short-cut to good science and dumbin

Actually, you're both wrong. According to new numbers from the Labor Department, in 2008 only 1.1% of Americans who work 40 hours a week or more even earned the minimum wage. In other words, 98.9% of 40-hour-a-week workers earn more than t
