Of course it is universal; what is advertising but giving products a compelling narrative?

That's one of the common criticisms of modern art, that it is largely about justification of the work. After I went to Art Basel last year and happened on a display which was, quite literally, a few kilograms of nutella dumped on the floor,

Fair enough, but there's nothing overtly weaponizable about communication technology. Don't get me wrong, I'm thrilled the money is there to advance the field, I just wish it wasn't coming from a bunch of dickheads trying to strap guns to i

Serious question, is there anything driving mobile robotics research besides the defense dept? I spent my grad school time in a robotics lab and it always bummed me out that anytime you see something amazing like this it's invariable funded

I remember the GC stalls being quite apparent for swing applications which I wrote in undergrad back in the 2000 to 2002 time frame (so it must have been java 1.3). Highly responsive UI and relatively low system memory (256MB on the G1) jus

It's still amazing to me how powerful these devices have become that you can put a GC on a mobile platform, especially considering how sensitive users would be to GC stalls causing unresponsive user interfaces.

The Prediction API has the potential to be really cool. Wonder how concerned the Directed Edge (YC) guys are about Google entering their space.

As a caveat, it should be noted that John Bogle, founder of Vanguard (and the whole index investing movement, for that matter) is not a big fan of the ETFs. Check out http://www.indexuniverse.com/sections/news/6012-bogle-invest... to see

I'm not aware of any VCS which meets your standard of not allowing destructive commands (I'm sure you realize you can destroy history/data in git as well, right? It may take a --force, and it'll yell at you, but it's definitely doable)
