Another major player I find the list missing is collectd and the plethora of various other RRD tools (even though Cacti and Nagios are there). But to be fair, his list seems ore of 'current snapshot' stats instead of logging and monitoring

Interesting idea, I like the site, although might want to clean the design, it's a tad bit busy. The only crticisim I see here is you only get 30 second previews instead of the entire track, and I don't feel like paying up $100 for a playli

There is actually a easier way to do this. Pass this parameter while in your boot loader init=/usr/bin/emacs-nox This will fire up emacs instead of init once the kernel is done booting up. You also need mount, but you can run that

Even though uWSGI's source is GPL, that doesn't mean your web apps need to be GPL, that would make this completely useless (same way your editor is GPL but the code you write with it does not need to be). This would apply if you decide some

A lot of suggestions would tell you how to write secure sites, but if you really want the guts, learn how to break the site. Go to the library and pick up some network security books, and focus on the website security sections (sql injectio

Seconding the EBS Raid0 option. Some comparison here http://blog.mudy.info/2009/04/disk-io-ec2-vs-mosso-vs-linode... Also, if you have a part of a DB that just requires unholy amounts IO, there is of course the new 68gig instances, move t

That's like asking, why is my car slow when I am near one of the fastest highways... Most likely reason is where you are hosting the wordpress app or the DB is slow and overloaded (guessing shared hosting?)

You are correct, offices are indeed boring... but server rooms and farms are a beautiful sight to see. At least at Cisco, the server rooms span the entire length and width of a usual building... it looks like it never ends.
