What was the Facebook group? "Apparently inappropriate" is too vague to know what the problem was!

This surprises me. I've never heard of anyone losing an internship or co-op position for such a reason. I can't think of it happening anywhere I've worked. As both of us have anecdotes however, perhaps some data on this could

A decently nuanced take. We don't want universities to be an echo chamber, however, neither do I want it to be a place where we pretend that "both sides" are equally valid. Rather, a spirit of inquiry should be welcome, and c

For a store that's true, but it's also happening in residential care facilities where it can be a matter of neglecting care or even life or death when they are severely under-staffed, and the staff who do come in have more work, l

It's a common trope to say it's their duty to shareholders, but it's not. Their duty is to be diligent and transparent to their shareholders, but not to pursue short-term profits at any and all costs no matter what. Specifica

You get out of a college education what you put into it. I wouldn't recommend it just for a job, and the debt is an unfortunate modern heavy consideration to keep in mind. However, consider that it can be a force multiplier for your in

The irony here is that if you use the log4j equivalent of parameterized queries, parameterized logging strings, you're still vulnerable to this CVE, even if you did everything right.

Please don't use Python package management as a baseline. Aim higher. I love Python, but I cringe whenever someone asks me why a Python program isn't running properly on their machine. Obligatory xkcd: https://xkcd.com&

It’s important to keep a sense of humor and humility about working with logic machines from our squishy salt water meat brains. There are only two kinds of programmers in this world. Those who don’t make anything, and those who create sev 1

Yes, that is the marketing brochure pitch for microservices. In the real world, poorly designed microservices make the ball of mud problem much, much worse, and whatever pain you had in deployments in a monolith are now magnified ten-fold.
