Rust does name mangling by default. However, you can turn it off per symbol just like in C++.

Connections was such a great show. Thx for this. Wish I could find the old black and white Dr Who episodes on YouTube as well.

Great story to honor him. Maybe it is now time for you to be the ‘Larry’ in others lives.

Wow - As I read the readme and wiki it shows what an impressive amount of effort to pull this all together. This is the closest to OpenStep I’ve ever seen an open source project achieve.

Similar story here. Just didn’t have enough knowledge to pull off the interesting hacks. I also wanted to get that modified PAL hack for graphics installed. It was talked about on Usenet. I think about 6 months after getting the machine I e

Can you share some rgb values? I used to use white on blue on my IIgs. My 3b1 (acquired later), of course didn’t have that option. My favorite has been Amber displays.

Oh man I know that pain he describes in his tweet. I could not afford a hard drive for my IIgs either.

Really interesting architecture. The way they tried to make the processor units flexibly become SIMD or MIMD is thought provoking. Thanks for sharing this.

The text looks really good in the terminal in the video. Is the display as good as the video capture? Also, what is the hardware used for the video card and HMD?

Wow - never heard of this before. I really like the story behind it. They even did their own clone of Pick OS. Neat!

Can you elaborate on “stack bias”? What are your thoughts about register windows? I am open mindedly curious as to why you prefer that assembly? Also, what SPARC hardware are you running?

It would be great to know if I could boot with mirrored and encrypted disks. What happens if one of the disks fails? Is there an easy way to boot from the other disk (I.e. do they replicate the MSDOS/UEFI) boot partition?)

I wish openfirmware was the norm. PC BIOS and UEFI are horrible in comparison.

Wow - disabling the caches is an extreme measure. I get it though. After doing that, you can (probably) do cycle counting on routines again. Just like the 80s or earlier.

What I would like to know is how the GPU compares to a n RPi4 or the latest RPi3. I wish there was a comparison of that. Regardless, I will probly still buy one of these Rock Pi's anyways :-)

I have found the [U]EFI mess to be really unbearable. It is too hard to debug. I mean, they learned nothing from the workstation or minicomputer era wrt. boot diagnostics.
