I will give you my 2 cents on this argument. tl;dr - Python had no web frameworks built in or community favorite. Rails was a complete re-think of how to do web apps in the age of XML (acaffolding, convention over config, etc.) Every langua

Cool - when will Windows support the 'fork' call? If they do that and support the '/' as a path separator (which was always there), Windows might get a resurgence.

I listen to anything electronic or just nature sounds. Neither have that much structure, and they definitely do not have vocals.

Yes, I suspect the mobile devices will not have the ability to display this content. However, if you enable WebGL on Safari via the Developer menu, the page will render really well on a Mac.

Also, if you use map and you want to easily filter out values, and 'nil' is an ok sentinel for this, then just use compact after the map.

Awesome - I had the same question. I was basically wondering how to inform the system of the opportunity to parallelize. BTW, Hutton's book on Haskell is just so excellent.

Wow - excellent link. I've been thinking about this lately. I'm not alone in thinking that languages are going to be important here. This is a great resource for further study! Thanks!

Sigh. SGI had this in Ultrix in 1991-1992ish (maybe earlier). Why? Their market was graphics. If anything non-essential prevented the system from rendering a frame, an attempt was made to run that on another processor. I remember a 4 proces

I used to read it when it started. They used to only have about 5 articles a day, and then only post the next day. Once they removed that limit I stopped. I use that filter on most sites except for HN.

I know C well, but check out links like these on news sites occasionally. (Just like this story) This book reminded me of an online C tutorial that proceeded to teach C in a functional style. I don't remember if they explicitly stated it
