Can't speak for California or LA, but in Dallas we had a plastic bag ban for a short period and it was sold as a way to reduce local litter, not reduce greenhouse emissions or protect the climate. I didn't realize how effective it

I once did a lunch and learn at work where I tried to teach coworkers how to use vim efficiently. It turned out to be the absolute worst lunch and learn I ever did. It's just so unintuitive and trying to teach it in a "here are so

Your comment is a perfect example of how this kind of data can be misinterpreted and distorted, intentionally or otherwise. There is no information in these charts about the test scores of those admitted.

The problem with TypeScript isn't the lack of reflection. The problem is that at runtime its type system is still Javascript in all its glory. Workarounds are just band-aids on the underlying mess at best.

Read it and review the change. Just because something is difficult to automate doesn't mean it's not worth doing.

I canceled Prime a while back, and I couldn't believe how full of dark patterns Amazon is when you're not a Prime member. "Free" shipping can easily turn into $6-$12 if you're not careful at checkout.

This is actually good analogy. OG will definitely throttle your breadsticks if you eat too many by taking their sweet time bringing another basket.

Elon publishes commentary and opinions about policy and society to his Twitter account regularly. He probably has a much broader reach than NPR. To say he shouldn't be held to the same standards because he's not a "publisher&

While having fewer computer controls in our cars may beneficial in some ways, theft-prevention is certainly not one of them. My dad had an early-80s Ford pickup when I was a kid. The cylinder in its ignition switch was broken in a way that

Encrypting everything on the CAN would be overkill and probably cost-prohibitive for manufacturers. Not all messages need to be encrypted -- just the ones that allow you to disable the immobilizer.

I don't think it's that the charge is "weak," necessarily. This would have been a huge charge for someone in Trump's political position 10 or 20 years ago. Even today, pretty much any other politician would have the

My take: If we want to keep electing criminals as president, then we should be willing to keep charging them with crimes. This isn't a parking ticket, it's misusing campaign funds to help get oneself elected president.

Ask yourself two questions: 1. What is the ultimate AI are we trying to eventually build? 2. What are the consequences if we eventually succeed in building such an AI? For me, the answers would be 1. A general AI that would equal and surpas

After test driving a Model Y, I have to admit the touch screen-only interface wasn't _as_ bad as I thought it was going to be. That being said, mechanical controls are superior for tasks that need to be done while driving: I'm thi
