Agreed. But it can't tell if I'm jet-lagged and I wake up 3 hours into my sleep at 2:30 am and lay there still, yet unable to get back to sleep. That is sometimes an 80 sleep score night, when really it should be a 40.

Or cmake, or any other modern build system aside from autotools. Heck, even just a Makefile and code with a few ifdefs is enough for fairly simple code. A lot of the complexity of autoconf / libtool is totally unneeded. I was very gl

Industry is more than willing to look past a lack of a degree given a good track record. Two of the smartest people I know didn't have undergrad degrees. One started as a lineman for AT&T, and learned programming by tending a comp

The problem in my neighborhood (literally right across the 101 from the Google MTV campus) was that PG&E never bothered to bury the lines, and the overhead lines were poorly maintained and overgrown by trees. So whenever there was wind

Beyond cost, what is stopping somebody from going off grid, and relying entirely on their own solar + battery system? Is there some law that makes this illegal? If not, it seems like this would cause a lot of upper income folks to just di

I tend to think its similar what happened in the 70s, when gasoline got expensive. The US manufacturers were slow to react, and made a few terrible "compliance" cars (Chevy Chevette, Ford Pinto), but continued to try to milk what
