I think I am relatively smart and I can feel myself getting dumber when I over-rely on AI for certain things. I've had to carefully observe the effect and choose what I "allow" myself to use it for. Example: when I use it for

For me it's been getting involved in seminars after moving to a university town. I started showing up to philosophy roundtable seminars, where the idea is to read someone's paper beforehand and then discuss it around the table. Kn

Do you mean that the experience is meant to have more structure if you pick the intermediate or advanced level? (fwiw I did pick intermediate for my Swedish level in the app). My thinking is - I can have unstructured conversations with Adva

I had a similar feeling with Swedish just now. It isn't really much different than conversing with ChatGPT in advanced voice mode - it's up to me to drive the conversation and it all feels quite arbitrary (and I find myself instin

This looks like Meetup or Facebook events. I'm not entirely sure what the need for another platform is and won't use it myself to organize my events as others have larger user bases, but the website looks quirky and fun.

Fiction is alive and well. This article is specifically about the decline of literary fiction. I think people simply realize how boring and pretentious much of contemporary literary fiction is; many choose to go pick up a science fiction, o

Purely anecdotally, when plastic bags in my country started costing 5-ish SEK I switched to fabric reusables (which I already had lying around from conventions and stuff) almost immediately. In the uncommon case where I don't have one

I got into programming originally because for me it was an act of creation in a very similar way to my sketches and paintings at the time. Software can be art. Interactive art, in fact - so, much 'more' than a painting in some dim

I feel a little stupid (or naive, maybe) each time I read one of these types of posts, because I've always just taken for granted that people don't need convincing to write if they feel like it. And if they don't feel like it

I want to practice speaking and last time I checked Advanced Voice Mode was not available in custom GPTs - is that still the case? Advanced Voice made a really big difference to conversational practice for me, but I do feel like I need to w

I'm not sure if you meant to reply to someone else or if we're just agreeing with each other? I already said "I still write a lot on my personal blog and still use writing as a way to process and solidify my learnings".

This rings true for me. I still write a lot on my personal blog and still use writing as a way to process and solidify my learnings, but as I outsource more to LLMs during the process of writing (e.g., helping me find a source or something,

Not really. AI will be ubiquitous of course, but humans who will offer advice (friends, strangers, therapists) will always be a thing. Nobody is forcing this guy to type his problems into ChatGPT.

The good news is you don't have to use any form of AI for advice if you don't want to.

Does initiating deletion through your 23andme profile settings effectively invoke right to be forgotten/ensure data will be deleted in 30 days? Or is that effectively a soft delete that requires additional followup for a RTBF request?

And just to be clear - there is an actual law forcing you to join these unions and pay their membership fees? (Not in the US, maybe this law is actually common knowledge that went completely over my head so far!)
