Ubuntu 24.04 is a disaster in my mid-2015 MBP. Ubuntu 22.04 is surprisingly good though.

Thank you for this, it’s sorely needed. One thing I didn’t see mention of is group membership. Is this / will this be part of the core offering? Being able to map IDP group membership to permissions within your SaaS is powerful, and in

FWIW I find the vscode + kickassembler + VICE toolchain a pretty fun way to iterate on C64 code.

Are you involved in the still-thriving C64 demo scene at all? Possible way to reconnect with the magic if not. Especially by attending (in-person, ideally) one of the many demo parties around the world. There are also parallels with embedde

I was hired for my current role at Cortical Labs via a “Who wants to be hired?” thread a year ago. First time I had tried via HN, I had a great experience and I recommend trying it if you haven’t.

I almost can’t believe that I am defending this sort of thing, but if every company has the same mission of making money, then perhaps it is redundant to state it? Leaving the mission statement free to describe a way in which value is to be

Is all Braille identical? No equivalent of typeface where the dots are shaped of spaced differently, but in the same Braille pattern?

Just massage, which would take the pain away for a few hours at best. I went to a physio about my bad back once and she put ‘magic sticky tape’ on my back and not much else. Didn’t bother returning and thankfully the running was the answer

I had bad sciatic nerve pain for a couple of years, finally fixed it with regular 5km walks. More recently, I would wake up with lower back pain every day. Started running (couch to 5k program), now run 30+ mins 3 times a week and no more b

(Creator of NakedJSX here) NakedJSX is primarily a low friction static site generator, it is not intended as a React or Preact replacement. Except for cases where something like React is overkill.

I keep one set up with a CRT TV just for “We Love Katamari” :) When you say it’s still going strong, are you referring to homebrew dev or something?

Location: Melbourne, Australia Remote: Yes (Plenty of timezone overlap with West Coast USA, previously worked London from Australia). Or hybrid local. Willing to relocate: No. Occasional travel is fine. Technologies: Very broad generalist.

I’m talking about effectiveness in any complex domain. It shouldn’t be controversial to suggest that someone who notices fewer details/patterns won’t (on average) be as effective at complex work.

The point is that for every moment that a high IQ person is observing, they are learning more than a lower IQ person. For the same amount of time invested, a high IQ person is going to have built a more complete picture to work with. It’s n

I don't think it's reasonable to argue that IQ isn't a meaningful measure of ability. IQ tests appear to measure how complicated a pattern is immediately obvious to a person. All else being equal, why wouldn't a person w

For me it’s almost like ‘seeing’ or ‘knowing’ the ‘shape’ of things and the relationships between them. Translating to words is sort of a seperate step at output. It’s difficult for me to describe.

I’d be interested to know if NakedJSX works for you. I released it about 6 hours ago and I'm looking for feedback. It allows you to use JSX (without React) to generate static HTML, and also to create DOM nodes in client JavaScript, and

On the other hand, people should be free to revise / update their works to maintain marketability, if they want to. Beyond that, as a parent of young kids, it would be nice to sometimes be able to read / show some classics to my k
