The closest I've seen has been developers that actually write documentation for what they're working on, allowing others to get up to speed on it faster even after they no longer work on the project.

I don't think this is an accurate assessment. Yes, GTD wants you to get everything out of your head and onto the "paper" in front of you. And yes, this might take a long time for some people, up to hours or days. But the key
