I think it's up to the customer to decide how the use the purchased product or service, since when do you owe an explanation to a vendor where or how their product will be used? If they add wedding-markup for no other reason (like incr

Well that might or might not align with the short-term business goals of someone. I agree that's stupid und not sustainable, but people have different goals. Like quaterly sales on Falcon Wing Doors and the bonus at the end of the year

The supply chain management use case from the article might not really work in the sense that the oracles/involved parties can tamper with the their input sensors, but it still offers other parties plausible deniability. Let's say

How does it compare to Tunnelblick and Viscosity? Any reason to switch if I'm using a paid subscription to a mainstream VPN provider?

Doesn't that particular Captcha also work in an incognito browser? I don't see where all this complexity comes in. You simulate the mouse movement and the click. Your browser pretends to not be able to run webgl, so no ghost image

Surveyors and surveyees being in the same pool of people often is probably bad, I agree. My conclusion is that the usability and accessibility of empiric testing could use some work. Even in regards to WEIRD people :D

I didn't quite get why the article described these surveys as problematic. I skimmed the linked article in that section but this didn't provide any answers either. Assuming the participants fully understand the question, and the s

>Right now we've got a thousand ever-changing solutions looking for a problem. Wow you're right. And a lot of devs can't resist that temptation.

Played around with it. I do see the appeal and advantage if you need to save requests and fetch lots of nested data. Haven't had an actual use case yet (as in paid work). My fear would be that companies who'd be better off with re

I agree that returning the same type, if possible, is better, since you can model it so that one specific value (zero, empty string, etc.) expresses the "nothing" accordingly. But I have found that several other developers don

I didn't use the word variable. I think we're talking about the same thing here.

Isn't there an inherent need in programming to express an explicit "nothing" value? Coming from Python and JS, I never found None/null to be much of a problem. I in fact like the distinction of null and undefined in JS.

Sorry to be a pedant, but the grammar and capitalization in this guide do not instill confidence. "How to Design Software Good" <- design well? "How will Your Users Do Their Work?" <- Seriously?

The holocaust deniers certainly aren't dead. The denial is the one of the early steps of facist subversion and should remain banned. It's time to review the rule when nobody is denying it anymore.

Wasn't there a study concluding that women tend to under-estimate their skills and men the opposite? If we assume that to be true, a long list of responsibilities is more likely to put off women because they don't think they can c

The initial investment in MTG is higher, since you start with zero cards, but there is an independent market where you can purchase almost any card directly. I personally prefer this over the gambling and crafting mechanic in HS.

This contra-UBI argument is often made, but I find it a bit short-sighted. Instead of having "survival" or "career" as a overarching goal in life, (some) people will have to find their own purpose in life. It's a bi
