Go and Clay seem to have very different intentions. Go is about concurrency. Clay is about generics. Go is garbage collected; Clay is not. This allows Clay to be more suitable in environments where GC non-determinism/performance is una

Cocoa (like everything) has some rough patches, but overall is clean, elegant, and has a pretty consistent feel and vision. Proof is that ARC exists. This is the only reason compiler tools like ARC are possible. If Cocoa were too inconsiste

I'm curious about the Mac App Store argument. If you already built an iOS app and got it through the app review process to sell on the App Store, why would you make a Mac port and not want or be able to get it in the Mac App Store? The

There is also a modification patch for Lua 5.1 called Cocos that fixes this. It was written by Mike Pall, better known as the author of LuaJIT. http://coco.luajit.org

You should benchmark, but you are probably wrong. The whole talk was about how hardware (i.e. memory accesses) matters. Even the Wikipedia article you linked to suggests this. "Earlier authors had estimated that Strassen's algorit

The article is bunk. It assumes that casual customers will just happen to buy Xbox if they shipped it. No, casual customers are not buying home consoles at all. They all want iPhones and iPads (and not Surface). Microsoft would have yet ano

To the Android fan-troll who voted this down, it is common knowledge that developing for Android is painful. If you haven't shipped a real world app on Android, links are easily found by people who have and complain like this one: http://d

Qualitatively, I agree with all the points. Quantitatively, I love to see program benchmarks to test. I am particularly interested in the insertion performance. While insertion may not seem cheap, it seems the benefits of locality and large

BridgeSupport also supplies .dylibs containing inline functions/macros that don't have symbols/linkage in the main framework. While it is possible to workaround the lack of BridgeSupport, if Apple doesn't supply it, most developers are not

Agreed. And another problem is that all these interpreted languages are terrible at exploiting parallelism which is a problem as we get more processor cores. They were able to solve this in C by inventing Blocks and GCD.

This will probably be Mac-only. It will not appear on iOS unless Apple also ships BridgeSupport on iOS. BridgeSupport is needed for binding all the Obj-C parts that don't have introspection capabilities (like the C parts). This is how most
